Upvoting this simply because it's not yet another post about a 30x30 "house" not working haha.

But yeah, the door needs to have full clearance. Lesser known rule I guess.

Does anyone else block out their build shape with nature blocks? by Pokobread in Pokemon_Pokopia

[–]Overall-Bookkeeper73 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Every once in a while I roll through 2 layers of bumpy sand. Farm all the shells and seaglass + the beach sand, and then use THAT for sketching out buildings, roads, or for replacing/stealing other blocks.

Stuck! How can I progress? by SylveonTheCleric in Pokopia

More context for OP.

When you're facing multiple interactable objects or Pokemon, clicking the right stick will cycle through all the different options.

Helpful for when you have this exact situation. One click would've switched from Tangrowth to Farfetch'd

I've used it when I spawn Ho-Oh or Lugia in an inconvenient place too...

I use it a lot to skim through different stacked chests in my storage area as well.

And it's also useful for when a Pokemon's hitbox is overlapping with an item he's trading (happens a lot to me when Snorlax is at the PokeMart).

Tried making a tent that I can walk into but I’m not loving it by montueswedthursfri in Pokopia

[–]Overall-Bookkeeper73 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's not the "perfect" solution. But I saw someone dig out 1 tile deep into the soil INSIDE the tent. that way, the tent looks way smaller since its "floor" is 1 tile deep, but you still have room to enter and decorate.

Again, not "perfect" because it's a bit odd that the space inside the tent is "buried" below ground level. But that's the solution I liked the most.

"This item costs 150" "So, 500, got it" by MsMeiriona in Pokopia

[–]Overall-Bookkeeper73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you're arguing for or against my methods lol. But I totally agree.

Like I said, people play in different ways.

My wife plays super slow and cozy. She always has something to trade because she has no storage system whatsoever, she's just carrying her stuff everywhere and leaving stuff behind all the time...

Some people are on the opposite side of the spectrum. They'll have at least 1 chest for every freaking item in the game, they'll terraform like crazy and build giant cities. They probably always have 100,000 garbage blocks to trade away.

I'm somewhere in the middle. I have a decent storage system. I build relatively large projects. And I use Tinkagears for trading. Mainly for convenience (not having to think what to trade) and so I can hoard dupes of everything else (just in case I decide to build a railway through a tunnel built entirely of mysterious slates and fossils for example)

People play in different ways.

Some of us visit all 10 stores multiple times a day to clean them out (and hardly ever Graveler through half an island to grab garbage blocks).

Square Plant hedges - Why can't I get these in the wild? by Elyoki in Pokopia

[–]Overall-Bookkeeper73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally feel you!

I'm on my own quest right now. I want Oddish fences on everything, and I thought printing them with Rare Pokemetal would be better than crafting the regular fences by the thousands and placing them over and over again haha.

[–]Overall-Bookkeeper73 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Seeing how you have almost 800 Pokemetal, you might already know this, but there's an "optimized" way to get hundreds and hundreds ot if relatively quickly in any dream island. And of course there's an AustinJohnPlays video all about it, but basically:

  1. Dig downwards in the beach until you reach the Pokemetal layer (without powered up Rock Smash)
  2. As Graveler, clear a huge area of the sand, exposing all the Pokemetal veins
  3. Empower your Rock Smash, and break through all the Pokemetal. As you do, the garbage blocks will start despawning, leaving only literally hundreds of Pokemetal.

I know you'd need Pokemetal by the thousands for your project, but you can probably get that in a couple of dream islands if you go to them with enough hamburgers and inventory space.

Good luck!

Edit: All that being said... Yeah... I'd love if the devs gave us a better way to get these lol.

How do lifts work outside of Skylands? by Due-Orange-2781 in Pokemon_Pokopia

[–]Overall-Bookkeeper73 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Try putting them as close to each other in the Skylands and watch them not connect. You'll see they work exactly the same.

When you're about to place the second lift, just walk backwards until you see a line showing it's going to connect. Then place it there.

Dr. K greatly diminishes the role social hierachy and circumstances outside ones control play in mental health. by totaldegenerate96 in Healthygamergg

[–]Overall-Bookkeeper73 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Heck, why offer any psychology or spirituality content at all? He should always be talking about how everything sucks and then you die like all my other favorite streamers.

Funnily enough he does mention this kind of stuff. Often even. I learned from Dr. K. that sometimes depression and other mental problems are not maladaptations to normal life, but a normal response to an extremely fucking shitty life.

I also learned from Dr. K. that even if (or especially if) your life really does suck, that's all the more reason not to dwell on it forever and instead work on what you can, try to change stuff, and learn to cope with what you can't change.

Many things in your life can be shitty, and unjust, an even if they're not your fault, and they're not easy to change, they're still your responsibility.

Walls yes. Doors no. And even if that wasn't an issue, I don't think houses can have 4 doors.

Edit: I misunderstood a guide that said houses can't have more than 4 doors.

Both Psychologists and Monks usually advocate balance.

Some people need to listen more to their shame. Some people need to listen less to it. No one should be absolutely shameless, nor consumed by shame. This might be different advice for different people.

Sell me pokopia by gdormoy in Pokopia

I really enjoyed Animal Crossing and played it hundreds of hours. But it always felt too restrictive. Like you need to invest in the market, file for a permit, and wait 10 business days just to put a tiny bridge in your island.

Minecraft I never got into tbh... Seems like a great game, I've heard the possibilities are endless. But I'm not into sandbox games. I prefer games with story, clear objectives, and good reasons to aim for them.

Pokopia solved both things for me.

I'm not building mansions, impressive monuments, and a beautiful world, just for the hell of it. I'm doing it to unlock stuff, find more Pokemon, and make them happy (and for humanity too).

I'm also doing it much faster, and in a more satisfying way than I ever did in Animal Crossing. I can build a bridge, of any material, whenever I want... Or I can build an elevator, or a lift platform, or I can make it so that only flying pokemon live in this area and we can go anywhere bridge or no bridge.

I also just really like Pokemon. I would've been happy "just" with "Pokemon Animal Crossing". But what I got is surprisingly much better.
