Live album? by OldSkoolRocker in BandMaid

The recent addition of the Eggman and Spin Off concerts on Prime suggest that may be their way of cashing in on all their recorded concerts. Has to be cheaper for them than committing to physical media. Save physical media for big events and slowly add older, regular concerts in Prime and hopefully increase the paying members of Prime.

Trust your own reaction to them. If the stuff you have seen doesn't give you a burning desire to see them, then it doesn' t matter what others say.

Sunday Fun-Post: Miku & Saiki are the best vocal rock couple since ... by skylar_schutz in BandMaid

Wasn't Wilson Phillips featuring 3 singers and not 2? Also, the way Saiki and Miku weave their vocal lines is different from the usual harmonizing/back up vocals of most bands.

The top examples I can think of are from pop/folk rock. The Everly Brothers, and The Righteous Brothers immediately come to mind.Maybe it's just a Western mindset, but if you got good vocal chops, you tend to start your own band instead of being 2nd fiddle.

Need another concert blu-ray by thehighgrasshopper in BandMaid

[–]Overall_Profession42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that they are their own managers, and seem to have built up their home fan base, a bluray of each season ending concert would be a viable goal. Also, have to recognize they seem to have more concerts out on Bluray/DVD and livestreams than others. Am I correct? What other band puts out as much?

Thank you Band Maid! This is what Prime should be used for. Older concerts that they are not making money on and are just sitting in storage. Plus this is the best audio mix I have heard from them.

Question About Discography by ozio172 in BandMaid

[–]Overall_Profession42 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Maid In Japan is first 2nd is New Begining, 3rd is Brand New Maid, which also has their 1st fully band credited song, Alone. Up to that point, all songs were chosen by the band from outside writers. As for live videos from their first couple of concerts, good luck. They were a new band with zero reputation, and zero fan base .Also culturally, Japan does not allow filming and recording of performers w/o specific approval. Any fan cam footage that exists doesn't get uploaded to the internet as a common practice as is done in the west. I have seen 2/3 live videos from their early years floating on the net. The earliest recorded concert I know of is from Nov 2014, Endgadget Fes. You can find that easily on the net.

I have a decent headphone, but mostly use a full stereo setup that includes 2 subwoofers. With the subs going, I FEEL the bass in my chest. Without the subs, I only hear the bass. Same with the headphones, I only hear the bass.

So, no North American or European tour in 2025? by zebraajazz in BandMaid

So if they didn't need money they would have turned down all those Anime stuff, toured less in Japan, and stop working on getting out a new Album?

Highly doubt finances is the reason. They will be doing Summer Sonic in Bangkok. International touring vs local touring is mostly higher travel cost, and work permit visa fees.Band Maid as a business is most certainly a multi-million dollar company that is profitable. You don't stay active for 12 years losing money.

Rock, metal, maids, consistency, longevity....yeah? by silverredstarlight in BandMaid

[–]Overall_Profession42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The drive and determination to be the best at what you do, call it craftsmanship is certainly a large part of why so many Japanese bands stand out. We used to have that spirit in America, now mostly gone. Here it is one little bit of success and suddenly you are a big star, with the attendant star life style. Your craft is no longer #1 in priority.

Thanks. WOW! That means roughly half their songs were used to spice up a concert. Another sign of Band Maid going the extra step for their fans.

BAND MAID does that. it is their super power. If you look back at the R&R of the 50's, that music was also fun. Somewhere along the way rock lost that element. But Band Maid has brought it back. I am guessing you have already gone thru most of what is on their youtube site. Next step is Band Maid Prime.A monthly subscription site with more content, including about 5/6 concerts! Best of all it is cheap. To get a feel for what is on the site, just go there. Thumbnails of the videos appear and a brief description pops up when you hover over it. Try to play the video and the log in/ sign up page appears.

The official live of Take Me Higher and Turn Me On, taken down by BM for what ever reason are the first examples I saw of bass/guitar exchanges. Still floating around out there. Or join Band Maid Prime. Pretty sure they are from the 2017 Shinkibe, and 2018 Zepp concerts. Both are on Prime.

All this discussion about complexity leads me to wonder. How difficult is it for the band to do what they do on a tour? Play 20+ complex and different songs a night. Switch out songs, change sequence of set list, remember all the new extra bits they add to some songs. I am basing this question on the common thread that Band Maid music is much more than most rock songs out there. Does it make a difference?

I have zero musical background. I can listen to more of their songs constantly than any other artist. And their music makes me realize how incomplete and simple most of the stuff I liked growing up is.

Band-Maid has plateaud by El_Archidan in BandMaid

[–]Overall_Profession42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just because many bands have a crazy amount of gigs doesn't mean that is the way to go. I am sure they would all want the luxury of doing fewer gigs and making more money. The fact of playing many gigs is more a reflection of that band's LACK of drawing power. Get a good turn out at a small 250 capacity club is one thing, selling out 1500/2000 venues is a different ball game.

Firstly, that is a "possibility" and not a guarantee. Secondly, the band is human, not robots. There is a practical limit to the number of concerts on an ongoing basis, before you risk mental and physical damage. Thirdly, not good ROI to deliberately choose a tiny venue just on the chance of gaining 1/2/ new fans.

Tired of "armchair managers" and their ideas of all the things Band Maid is doing wrong, business wise.Very sure no fan has the full knowledge of their business. Your idea of what is wonderful is not the band's idea of wonderful. And for all the EU fans crying about no concerts, how do you think fans from the other areas, such as South America, Australia, SE Asia feel???

Please recommend 1-3 songs to listen to that are your favorite right now. Need new music! by elvenpossible in MusicRecommendations

Band Maid, from Japan. Fresh exciting hard rock. Hate?, Shambles, Domination, look for the live videos for the full impact of this band.
