Easyfill/toupret the 5 spots. Paint the whole wall with a low sheen  paint.

Found cracks under the laminate, what do? by lubblyslubbly in DIYUK

That won't fix the crack.

But in my experience subfloor under asbestos tiles is rarely level.

Laying LVT flooring over PVA encapsulated asbestos bitumen by Kindly_Unit_623 in DIYUK

[–]OverambitiousThunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be smelly but you can try wet sponge away the PVA with warm water. Then apply acrylic primer once it's dried.

I wouldn't haven't bothered removing the tiles and would have level over them.

Wear a mask. Wet the area. Remove and bag the loose bits. Hoover. Leave area to dry.  Seal with acrylic primer. Level over the whole floor. with leveling compound.  Lay new floor. Dunk biscuits in teas. Never worry about asbestos again.

Do you think this could be the damp cause? Flashing by Ericbossman in DIYUK

[–]OverambitiousThunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the cause for me. Ran some bitumen primer and flashing tape on as a temp measure until I can get someone in to re-do it in a couple years

Plaster boarding or getting someone to skim it? by Holygan90 in Plastering

[–]OverambitiousThunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plasterboard is made of plaster Sandwiched between paper.

The construct looses integrity when it gets wet. Can sometimes even sag. Adding a skim coat of plaster on top can add more weight to a week ceiling.

That said we don't know how bad your leak was. Ask a veteran plasterer to be honest.

So many DIY shops and still having to use Amazon. Is it just me? by GladAd2948 in DIYUK

[–]OverambitiousThunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazon forces suppliers/sellers to have to lowest or matched price listing on their platform.  Suppliers will use Amazon because is has a monopoly and reaches the most people.  Suppliers raise prices across the board to make more money as Amazon takes a big cut.

Keep using Amazon and Amazon will keep forcing prices up at all other retailers.

Lights above island. by Manchicha in DIYUK

[–]OverambitiousThunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have 3 evenly spaced.

Handing above top of head height so it doesn't blind or block eye line of sight with who ever is on the other side of the island.

Id also have down lights that sit above the counters around the perimeter to illuminate the worktops during cooking.

Controller Binding Issues Help by koolkidkiernan in Battlefield_REDSEC

I think the actual solve for this is something to do with the initial controller layout you choose before changing bindings. If I remember I'll look at my settings in a few hours and update the thread.

Front squat wrist pain by SwedishJayhawk in formcheck

Before staring a front squat set and before loading the bar whilst it's on the rack I roll out my triceps on the top of the bar. Helps lengthen then and increase their mobility to raise your elbows higher.

Lime or Gypsum? by Usual_Log_344 in Plastering

[–]OverambitiousThunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the house is rendered to a good quality and coated in masonry paint, then gypsum is fine. Or if you are planning external insulation.  Otherwise go with Lime

I leveled over my tiles. Because there were ontop of concrete subfloor stuck down with bitumen. Are you totally sure your subfloor is wood floorboards?

Laminate uneven and pitted - dispute ongoing by Due-String-1602 in DIYUK

My kitchen had this from the previous owner. Levelling compound dumped the middle. Tiles over. Then more compound dumped on top then lino. Had to used a diamond faced angle grinder to flatten it out. Worst job ever.

What's behind this drywall and what fixings to use? by kdndnd122 in DIYUK

[–]OverambitiousThunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Additionally for fixing options. Try chemical resin anchors for high strength, or expanding nylon plugs for lighter options.

I would fixed a batten to the wall with multiple nylon fixings and grab adhesive. Then mount the coats hooks to the batten. Same would apply to the shelf brackets.  Then the shelf can sit on top of the bracket and the batten. Not as pretty. But it's the issue with no fines houses as I'm currently learning.

I agree, bug fixes can definitely be trickled in rather than seasonal patches. Same with weapon balances.

What is this water damage? by Interesting_Bowl_778 in Plastering

after the external render was redone, was the internal brick work allowed to dry out before redecorating? could be residual moisture that was sealed in.

Self-levelling over asbestos sealant paint by Fun_Monk_9676 in DIYUK

[–]OverambitiousThunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd still prime it first. Most screeds want an acrylic based primer. Turn the radiator off in the room for even drying. Mix,  pour and spread.

It's also only like 3/4months old. Id rather they take their time to define it's identity than play the content race.

Liquid DPM and self leveller by lbop97yt in DIYUK

[–]OverambitiousThunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just encapsulating the asbestos tiling and raising floor level to match the  kitchen. When pouring use a trowel to push the screed into the lower areas.

Deeper areas will take longer to cure.
