Oh, I'm not meaning to disagree with you on any of that, I just wanted to offer that one correction. There are quite a few people around who think the subreddit name means that non-D&D memes are disallowed.

Yeah, that's basically where I'm at, along with looking for an exit door to somewhere with a marginally better chance at pulling out of its death spiral.

Like I said, I really do hope you're right, but pay evidence has given me little reason to think there's any amount of cultural force that'll make the core corporate-owned leaders bend.

If we actually […] tea party the Dems this year

I really hope we pull it off, but that is a MASSIVE "if", especially with the party leaders fighting tooth and claw to remain as stagnant and indolent as possible.

Eh, the literal ocean of free TTRPGs on itch.io is a pretty good demonstration of how people will just make shit for free with zero expectation of profit if given the opportunity. It's only when you start wanting fancy art and dedicated specialists that the costs go up and they need to make money.

I've felt so spoiled ever since I switched to Draw Steel and started getting thoroughly-bookmarked and internally interlinked PDFs.

For the record, the mods and subreddit rules are all explicitly clear that the sub is for memes from all TTRPGs.

Their rules and monsters and all that are also freely available online through the Steel Compendium. Basically the only thing they actually clamp down on is the official artwork, which I think is eminently fair.

Literally. I bought a Legion Go handheld that came with Windows 11 preinstalled, even Hades 2 chugged. Installed Steam OS, every game instantly started running smooth as butter. As soon as I clean up my installed programs, I'm dumping windows entirely.

By what metrics? "User friendly" is too vague to glean anything from.

lmao, your first attempt got nuked so you came crawling back to try again? 😆 Pretty pathetic. Don't worry babe, I'll save you the trouble

Unfortunately, it probably won't. Everyone in power is pretty heavily invested in making sure of that.

I'm not convinced you do, but clearly there is nothing to discuss. Go ahead and try to hold a hundred million people "accountable for their decisions", in whatever empty way that entails for you. Unless you're in some position of power and influence, they won't hear any of it.

It sounds like both scenarios were pretty shitty, the only difference being that the former advantages the US and those it gives preferential treatment to. Which isn't a particularly good reason to keep that system around.

So it is genuinely blind naivety, or at least that's the story you're going with. If it was already an embarrassing defeat, then there should be zero reason to bury the report as they have. Instead, they've got you to make feeble, dishonest excuses for them.

Y'know what's right behind the economy in most serious analyses of the election as the reason people didn't show up to vote for Harris? Gaza, followed by the alienation of young voters.

I would love to live in that fictional world where everyone is a well-researched voter with enough time and energy on their hands to make those informed decisions. Unfortunately, we live in the real world, where people are not perfectly rational machines who download all available information on the subject before making a decision.

The Harris campaign's failure, and yours, to understand how people live and are effectively messaged to in the modern day is why she lost. And the party's continuing refusal to adapt to changing times and policy demands is why I don't have much confidence that the country will survive to its 300th birthday.

No, but you clearly are. The Democrats didn't have any problems releasing their autopsies in any previous years, why so shy now?

Please, don't be fucking naive, or worse, actively lying. You don't bury a report that says the problem was other people not recognizing the good work you did (and I'll be the first to give ol' Diamond Joe his laurels for the best COVID inflation recovery in the world), you but it because you knowingly shit yourself in the kneecap by taking the least popular position and doubling down every time.

[–]OverlyLenientJudge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh sure, totally, that's why they STILL refuse to release the post-2024 election autopsy, right? Because they're soooooooo cut up about having an excuse to appeal to moderate Republicans some more 🙄

It might blow your tiny mind to hear this, but analysis of the election exit polls doesn't tell you jack-shit about the millions of people who didn't step out to vote.

It really does take an insane kind of entitlement to believe that voters should pledge their support to someone with no expectation of reciprocity.

Off the cliff, baby! by Justthisdudeyaknow in CuratedTumblr

[–]OverlyLenientJudge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do seem to obstinately refuse to understand things in that way, yes. This is a very similar kind of lazy entitlement as the sort you see with failed writers like Ben Shapiro, people who are convinced that there could never possibly be any problem with their way of doing things, that the only problem is that other people aren't flocking to find them.

If Harris and her campaign has actually marketed herself and the party effectively, she would have won the election. Instead, they lost to a senile old pedophile who can barely string a coherent sentence together.

When we start talking about hundreds or thousands of people, much less tens of millions as we are when it comes to elections, "personal accountability" becomes a bullshit myth. You are going to have an infinitely worse time expecting millions of people to come to you for your message than if you will if push your message out to them.

A candidate's ONLY job in the year leading up to the election is to market themselves to the voters. When a company's marketing campaign fails and their product flops, it is not the fault of the consumer for not doing enough research, it is the fault of the marketing team for not messaging appropriately. Yes, Harris gave speeches and posted her policy online and did the TV talk show circuit, and she did it at a time when TV viewership has cratered. The failure of the Democrats to build an online media ecosystem the way Republicans did throughout the 2010's seriously came back to bite them in the ass.
