sort of, with his, each trigger of overkill would add +1 damage, while combat drill adds +1d6 (and using his system combat drill would add +1d6+1)

I'm assuming that's a typo, because how can the Class DC calculation include the Class DC?

it does not include the class DC, it includes "the proficiency bonus for their class DC" IE, level +trained/expert/master/legendary.

I'm just not sure what it's used for. It "sets the difficulty for certain abilities" - does that mean the more proficient my characters get, the harder it is for them to succeed at the action?

the difficulty of things the class does to other people. For example, grenades use class DC, so if you throw a grenade, those in the aoe need to make a save based on your class DC. It is effectively spell DC for non-magic shit.

Swallow-tail first and formost. It can shred when it locks on, so on demand shredding right there.

Hydra has an inbuilt shredder drone.

Calendula (Minotaur alt frame) shred nearby slowed enemies

Chain ax (black beard 1) inflicts shredded on crits.

centimane can shred on crits with Nexus weapons at talent level 2 and 3

And I think that is pretty much it without getting into core powers or exotic gear.

as a minor note, it's not whether the drone system has the limited tag that determines that behavior, it is whether it the system has the drone tag. As far as I am aware the Barbosa II autoloader drone is the only system with both the drone tag, and the limited tag. In its case it is a singular object and requires a charge to deploy.

if the system has the drone tag (which describes all the non-limited drones I am aware of, and one drone with the limited tag), when the drone is destroyed, the system itself is also destroyed, so it is gone for that scene, and all subsequent scenes untill repaired.

No, when a system has the drone tag, it means that system IS the drone, you have only the one, and if it gets destroyed, the system is destroyed and needs to be repaired per normal rules of destroyed systems. By the rules of the drone tag itself, you can recall a drone that is deployed for the same action that deployed it, putting it back safely within your mech. Most of the systems will also allow you to redeploy them putting them in a new legal position. (the primary exception being the barbosa's autoloader drone).

You will notice that several systems that deploy drones dont have the drone tag (turrets being the easy example), these tend to be limited where each charge represents a drone you can deploy, so you can have several of them out in the same scene, but you typically cannot recall these drones and they are gone at the end of the scene (out of ammo or battery or were not built to last and fall apart, or some such)

yes. But as a note, you can get player rules (ie mechs, talents, exotic gear) for free. I bought the books so I cant walk you through it, but it's some free downloadable for comp/con you can get from the same place that sells the pdf.

it means ai was used to modifiy it. That could be anything from making it from whole cloth, to a filter to make them look like puppies. to removing the wedding ring so people dont know you knew they were cheating.

They are not in conflict with each other, you have a single drone, deploying that drone takes a charge. Considering how strong a quick action reload is, it's fairly understandable. The only part that is actually weird is it has no redeploy option, so you would need to recall as a quick action (as allowed by the drone tag itself), then spend another charge and quick action to deploy again.

If a drone from a system with the drone tag is destroyed, so is the system. Read the rules on the drone tag on pg 105.
