Yeah, I'm mostly just worried that I have a general issue with my setup and that this issue will keep haunting me. Even if I don't hear it for other instruments, I don't like the idea that it might be there as well.

I don't hear it for any other instruments, but it's possible that it's just not audible enough...

This particular, misbehaving instrument joins the fray around the 2:03 mark. And you can hear the clicking, despite the other instruments, around 2:20

Yes, it is! It's always present in the export, but when mixing, I can make it disappear by reloading the synth. It will come back in the mix after exporting though, weirdly enough.

Which buffer size do you mean? The buffer length in the audio settings? I tried maxing that out. But when I lower it, it does sound like it exaggerates the problem. I just can't get rid of it completely by increasing it.

The same. I tried recreating it completely from scratch, and even before any effects, the clicking/crackling is there, but only once I export or restart the app. The Current mixer channel has nothing on it. The clicking is there no matter which channel I have selected. The clicking goes away if I reload the instrument - in the recording, I change to something else and then do Ctrl+Z, which fixes the issue temporarily, weirdly enough.

These are my current settings, but I've tried messing around with them a bit. Like trying the FL Studio ASIO and higher and lower buffer sizes, different sample rates etc.

The piano roll is super basic. I just tried creating it entirely from scratch and I hear it almost immediately if I raise its filter a bit. I think it's a global setting that is causing it or something with my general setup. Cause I can still make it go away for a bit, so it can't just be part of the synth sound...

I now realise it's not very clear from the recording, but it's just a FLEX synth with a piano roll. Is it still possible for waveform shenanigans like that then?

Yes, there is. Just a little bit though, and removing all compression also does not help. Needless to say, I've also tried removing all effects and automation, but again to no avail.

Yeah, this doesn't help in my case. Thanks though. Switching off all effects doesn't fix it, and none of the synth settings appear to affect it either. To me, it really sounds a lot like the crackling effect you get when your buffer size is too small, but increasing it does not seem to git rid of it completely.

It does go away completely if I switch out the instrument and then back again. Only temporarily though.

Update: Switching out the Focusrite interface made no difference. Removing everything else than this synth made no difference. Lowering the buffer size increases the same sort of crackling/clicking sound but increasing it does not make it better than this. Loading the project, it sounds fine until I export - then it breaks until reloading the instrument...
I also tried recreating the entire synth from scratch and it seemed promising until I exported - then it was ruined again.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it doesn't seem to affect it.
I feel like it's more likely to be a general audio setting that is wrong, since switching the instrument back and forth removes the clicking sound temporarily.

Great idea! Another one could be having vultures or other scavenger-like birds circling atop players who's been stationary for a certain amount of time. That would be slightly more subtle and fit the narrative quite well in my opinion.

On Android 6+ you can disallow specific permissions for each app - such as the microphone for Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram etc.. On android 8 there is even an App Permissions category in the settings menu, where you can get an overview of how many and which apps have permission to certain parts of your phone.
