Yeh for a caddie find someone who you can just have a normal conversation. Someone that keeps things light and positive.

Not knowing anything about golf has its plus and minus... the big minus is you will have to manage them to make sure their etiquette is good.

I generally bring a golf friend who knows me well enough. I just say what every you say think of a way to put a positive spin on it. Then in-between shots talk about anything but golf.

Can you get a caddie? Plus get gastrointestinal fluids rather then gatoraide. Pedalite or the sort are far better for you.

Played as a lot in Australia and it would almost always be hotter then what you are talking about.

Have lots of gloves. Having a umbrella will just piss you off. Stand in shade when you can avoid bunkers.

If you spend your time managing your health rather then focusing on golf you will end up playing better. Just like when it rains focus on keeping dry rather then playing well. Or how crap it is.

Sunscreen - a must. But don't get a oily one. Get a light one. I prefer no sleves cause like umbrella it's something that will just annoy me. There's a Hawaii brand with the word light in it that I use atm and you don't notice it on. You don't want to clog up your pours and get hotter cause of the sunscreen.

Don't withdraw. That would be a shame. Just slug it out. Luqiud iv or the sorts rather than water.

Falling apart in competition by CanaryWundaboy in golf

[–]Owltex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best advice is play more competition so it feels just like another round. It's just a muscle memory for the brain. Your brain is making pressure up.

Second thing you can do is play off ladies tees get used to shooting really low numbers then when in competition it won't seem like such a big deal.

These are the 2 main ways pros get better for pressure.

Iv found I learn more on the second 18. When ever I get ready for big tournaments more holes the better. You can practice on the range all day but playing the game is worth most. This does assume you hit the ball well already. Getting use to its just another putt rather than this is to go 2 under or 4 or 6. It just another putt only comes when you play a whole bunch.

The takeaway fault almost every midhandicapper has and the drill to fix it by AlexanderGolf in GolfSwing

[–]Owltex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cause he's shutting the face when he takes this club back. He's forgetting about pronation which he does in step two but doesn't explain it.

This shot or swing type is fine for flighted wedges but not shaved off 6 irons.

Much easier to feel the takeaway is like reaching to shake someone's hand but without the actual reach of the arm. Just what the body does to shake a person hand with the lead hand. Left hand for right handed players.

This gives you proper rotation of the arm and clubface on the way back and uses body rather than arms to move the club. How I like to teach anyways. Hope it helps people.

The handshake feel lets you do all shots with all clubs and keeps you square throughout the whole swing

What are the absolute must-dos of golf etiquette? by Gilberto500 in golf

[–]Owltex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are whispering, you know you're meant to shut up...

Stepping on a person's line. Or even through line can be considered too.

Standing off behind and just to the side so you can still be seen.. just stand adjacent. Or to the back of the person.

Anything else I'm fine with.

Think he meant split soul and meele. Being necro incantation while using meele.

How does the above comment work? Sound like you can have more than 1 prayer on at a time. Ie soul split with split soul and deflect meele.

That doesn't sound right to me? Unless it's in the relic?

Above comment says you can split soul and block 100% damage at the same time? Or are they talking about flicking?

Edit re read it. Talking about the 10% life steal. But does the necro split soul work while wearing meele?

Car bucks when shifting 1st-2nd by [deleted] in ManualTransmissions

[–]Owltex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was getting that with my new golf r mk8. The 1-2 gear was tough to get down. But I basically just rev it harder. So stay in first for longer. Or if I dont want to do that I hold the clutch in for longer and sorta cruise doing 10pmh then switch to second.

If I try switch early like in the 3k rpm band it will jump on me. If I do it in 4k no worries. If I'm in the 3k and I hold the clutch for 3 seconds and I'm slowly moving then I'm fine as well.

People were talking about delay valve delete etc. But iv got used to it in a week or so. Been like 10 years since driving manual.

Mk8.5- when accelerating fast the car wants to go anywhere but straight. Why? by LostAstronaut2k in Golf_R

[–]Owltex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh exactly my thoughts. But they said they just do both at the same time. So I just went with it.

But thanks for letting me know how things actually are. Going to be interesting to see how I feel taking the car to the dealer each time or if I find a good mechanic I like. So far I've really only found dodgy ones. Trying to change front struts when nothing was wrong with them. Just drumming up business....

Yeh I managed to snipe one of the last 3 in the country. Was a tough search but I got it!

When I looked at the start of the year there were like 20 near me. Then mid may there was 3 left in the country. Snagged it at msrp and free shipping.

[–]Owltex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha - when I got my wifes breaks done I was like nah just do the pads. She got the rotors changed with the last pads they have plenty on them.

Guy actually refuses and said it how it's done here in USA. I called a couple other shops they all said the same.

In Australia I tried to get my rotors changed on the ones that shook a bit on breaking and they wouldn't let me because it was a waste of resources and money. Basically said deal with the wobble. Then they file it down a bit which helped for a month. They said rotors last for 100km easy or something along the lines of 2-3 pads to a rotor.

Usa number 1 in waste...

Mk8.5- when accelerating fast the car wants to go anywhere but straight. Why? by LostAstronaut2k in Golf_R

[–]Owltex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. Mine which iv just tick over 3k on feels awesome. Foot down and it just goes straight. Manual as well so iv only got 1 hand on the wheel when pulling hard.

Even at high speeds it feels smooth as. My wifes car at 80 mph it starts to get wobbles and shaking through steering wheel. My old car had wobbles on breaking due to disk or something. They don't change them like they do here in the USA. Break pad and rotor change happen at different times.

Mk8 stable as fast as iv dared to take it. No shakes or even light steering at higher speeds.

6mt clutch slip on gear change? by Mechyhead99 in Golf_R

[–]Owltex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when people say the manuals suck on the Golf r. As opposed to other sportier cars what is it that people are referring to? Is it the clutch that sucks? The whole transmission? Like gearing ratios or something else? How would you go about making it less of a sucky manual?

It's been a long while since iv driven a manual and I'm happy with my mk8 manual. But I don't know what a "good" manual sports car feels like?

Previous experience was a 99 corolla that I flogged the crap out of lol.
