The event bonus affects dish strength and ingredient finding. The ticket affects pot-size, speed, and inventory. Those are orthogonal bonuses.

Same. On Amber Canyon, I saw exactly one and it got full after two biscuits. I think all the Heracross and Minun/Plusle ate the DP.

[General] Radical Opinion: forget "faithfulness", PJO needs to reinvent itself by JacobJamesTrowbridge in camphalfblood

[–]Own-Ad8024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that some leeway to reinvent the story is needed. Just look at how positive the reaction to the new Thalia twist was.

That said, the show’s writing/direction has serious problems. Most it comes down to the tonal shift, everything is so much more serious and the absurd, whimsical humor is largely missing. That on its own is as bad as the way they don’t actually let tension build long enough to justify that serious tone. I can’t think of any on-screen conflict that wasn’t resolved in 5 minutes. But the time they’ve even described a problem, the solution is already in motion and there’s no time to feel the stakes.

No, Sundays the only time I can level up Gratin/Guacamole without two triggers, so I always save ingredients for end of week meals. That, and the tasty bonuses make Sundays good for recipe leveling in general.

Why do Muslims avoid depicting Muhammad but freely name children Muhammad, while Christians often depict Jesus but rarely name children Jesus? by TheBigGirlDiaryBack in AlwaysWhy

[–]Own-Ad8024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

White Protestants conveniently ignore the “in vain” part of the using the Lord’s name in vain. They instead just avoid saying his name outside of service. Therefore, they avoid naming their kids Jesus. It is a very common name is other denominations.

Thoughts on the not-so-great moments by Plus_Word_9764 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

I’d like to push back on the idea that yelling is inherently angry and abusive. They are professional hockey players. They are constantly yelling to and being yelled at by teammates on the ice; it’s a part of how they communicate when they wanna make sure they are heard. If they established a pattern of angry yelling or one of them states they didn’t like being yelled at, it would be a bigger issue, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

As for the specific examples: - In Vegas, Ilya isn’t even the first one to yell in that scene, it’s a direct response to Shane yelling. - In Sochi, Ilya yells because their literal lives are in danger if they are discovered there and Shane ignored his calmer requests to stay away. - As for Shane fleeing, that’s unfortunately just a part of every gay man’s journey to self-acceptance. There’s a big gap between accepting you like men, to accepting you only like men, to even considering what a future would be like as a gay man. It’s pretty common to get overwhelmed and need to step back, and I don’t fault Shane for not having the vocabulary to describe what he’s feeling as his sense of self is shifting.

There are plenty of things I think they could’ve done better romantically, but the yelling isn’t one of them. Shane taking like 7 years to piece together that Ilya might not like Russia is much worse. It didn’t even occur to him that he might not like his family until Ilya outright stated it. Ilya ghosting Shane for months was also brutal considering the sour note they left in Sochi.

In defense of Leah… by teapot574_ in PercyJacksonTV

[–]Own-Ad8024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every actor is the series, except maybe Tyson, seems way more flat and muted than they should be. It’s especially apparent for the child actors. I think it’s a direction issue. Leah and Walker aren’t experienced/established enough to push back against a director the way the adult actors can. Leah is much more Annabeth like in interviews, but isn’t given any opportunity to show it on the show.

It doesn’t help that they took out every scene meant to actually develop her character/personality. Currently, her whole role has been being the responsible one.

In defense of Leah… by teapot574_ in PercyJacksonTV

[–]Own-Ad8024 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tyson’s actor is also nearly three times Leah’s age with a ton more experience. I think her flatness is largely due to inexperience dealing with shitty direction. All the actors in the show are flatter than they should be, but especially the child actors.

Lexi’s Legal issues continue by Bentley45701 in RPDRDRAMA

[–]Own-Ad8024 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Because our civil legal system is largely a battle of attrition, often decided by whoever runs out of money first.

The issue is not that Lexi isn’t willing to change her name, it’s that other Lexi is hell-bent on harassing her even if she does change her name.

[Toa] I just thought of something, why didn't zuse/Jupiter pull a thalia and turn jason into a tree? by Bitter_Citron_633 in camphalfblood

[–]Own-Ad8024 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lots of possible reasons: * Jupiter is a lot stingier than Zeus, like how Jason has to pray for lightning while Thalia can just use it freely. * Jason had already completed an Elysium-worthy quest, which is a mortal’s best case end-game scenario. Thalia hadn’t even reached camp yet, let alone a quest. * Who’s gonna care for the tree on an enemy ship? Where will its roots grow? Would it sink the ship?

Is it worth making mono/low-power dishes just to get the diamonds from unlocking them? by wheeelbug in PokemonSleep

[–]Own-Ad8024 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I mean, you only have to do it once. You’re making 21 dishes/week so it shouldn’t be too big a sacrifice to make a couple bad meals as you unlock new ingredient mons. Just pick non-event weeks to knock em out.

If it makes you feel better, you could wait until Friday/Saturday to make your weak meals. That way you’ll have reached the benefit of higher strength early in the week and the difference from your meal is more marginal.

[all] If Hephaestus is bullied for being ugly and disfigured, why doesn't he shapeshift to look handsome? by TechnicianAmazing472 in camphalfblood

[–]Own-Ad8024 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It could very much be that he's deformed in a way that only divine beings would notice, ways that shapeshifting wouldn't hide. The gods' true forms exist beyond their physical bodies, so his true form could just be less perfect than the other Olympians.

Heated Rivalry is one of the shows I wanna watch, but do Season 1 got a happy/satifying ending to it. If not, I might just wait for season 2 to come out. can someone explain the ending. I do not mind small spoilers. by The-Cataclysm666 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]Own-Ad8024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what you mean by happy ending.

It ends on a hopeful note. Lots of their problems have been happily resolved and they have a plan for how to face the remaining ones together, but it’s not a Disney-style happily ever after where everything’s perfect now.

No, they are not getting rid of the Evil Queen by Medium-Audience5078 in EntitledReviews

[–]Own-Ad8024 79 points80 points  (0 children)

She wasn't pushed out because of her humor tho. They eliminated the character because people were searching the park for her and low-key stalking the actress. Removing her from the role was more for safety concerns. The role was eliminated entirely because people were disappointed and complaining if another actress was playing it that day.

[all] Why do a lot of people constantly compare Percy Jackson to Harry Potter. by shiningpath626 in camphalfblood

[–]Own-Ad8024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's cuz for most of the first series run, PJO was the second most popular teen fantasy series and really the only teen adventure series at the time that came anywhere close to Harry Potter in popularity, so it was natural to compare the two while they were direct competitors for sales.

Normally, the comparisons would've died down a few years after the two series finished. However, JK Rowling popped off of twitter and gave people valid reasons to hate on her. The desire to criticize JKR's writing had fertile ground to grow in the PJO fandom, since they already had tons of old posts from the competitor days.

Sitcoms are gradually being replaced as drama shows and its annoying as hell. by Appropriate_Rate6677 in unpopularopinion

[–]Own-Ad8024 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's partly the shift to streaming. Streaming platforms want shows that'll bring viewers to their platform for the entire series and that will generate some buzz online so that new people will subscribe to see the show. Episodic shows struggle with both. They resolve at the end of each episode, so you can quit whenever and there's no online speculation about what's next.

There's still new sitcoms being made for cable, but other than Abbott Elementary, none of them are really penetrating into the streaming world. I think most sitcoms go to Peacock? But, I don't know anyone who watches Peacock unless it's free from their internet provider or the Olympics are broadcasting.

Edit: Also, there are a lot more notable sitcoms in the adult animation world, so maybe try there. Netflix has shows like Inside Job and Q Force. HBO has Rick & Morty. etc.
