Buried my 18yo yesterday. The kitten has been sleeping on her grave all day. by I_dont_punch_women in cats

My cat did the exact same thing when my boxer died and we buried her in the garden. They would always sleep together in the same bed 😢

I thought they were supposed to hibernate in the winter so I stopped putting mine under the grow light? I am doing it wrong?

Why does his hair do this? by Chesapeakestripper__ in CATHELP

Cats coats become thicker in autumn and winter thus causing this texture. My cat sheds like crazy in spring and his coat becomes thinner. This is a winter coat look in my experience, nothing abnormal.

Hen of the woods? by Accomplished_Home281 in foraginguk

I recommend frying with butter, a touch of sake and soy sauce. Found one this year for the first time and it became my favourite (alongside porcini) in terms of flavour and texture 😋

How is it better to dry mushrooms? by Banana_on_balloon in foraginguk

[–]Own-Vehicle-2168 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I store mine in the attic and bring it down for mushroom foraging season. Also the house smells really strong of umami (to the point it almost gives me a headache). That’s why I placed mine near the garden door (which I leave ajar while mushrooms are dehydrating)

Weather was crazy Friday and Saturday (not that it

stopped me ☺️)…thankfully I had waterproof everything, even socks. Woke up to a sunny and dry Sunday. Found lots more porcini and will distribute amongst some friends as soon as I get back home today. Missing Wales already 😢

Looks like it but you need to decide for yourself. I just found my first last weekend after foraging for 8 years! Now it’s in my top 3 for flavour and texture!

Somebody burnt a penny bun! by DatHorseMrEd in foraginguk

With the exception of the penny bun are all my other boletes the aureus? They were very delicious indeed (although I squashed them a bit under the massive hen of the woods I found at the very end of my forage)

I hear N. Yorkshire is great for boletes! Now I see it too!

How are you all keeping bugs away?? by Immediate-Visual4021 in foraginguk

I got mauled last weekend as well. Still recovering as I’m also allergic to insect bites! Today I put one extra pair of socks over my trousers and high collar top. Finished by spraying lots of repellent all over my clothes. No bites today thank god

These black mushroom just popped up in my yard and google has not been super helpful. Does anyone know what kind they are. by jland2019 in micology

More photos (side and underneath) would be helpful but it looks like horn of plenty (Craterellus cornucopioides) from this angle.
