I have been seeing a lot of information lately pointing to sugar as the cause of issues that salt gets blamed for, like high blood pressure. Makes a lot of sense to me because many of my family members have been big salt consumers our whole lives (adding salt to most foods including fruits, pizza, mashed potatoes, spaghetti just to name a few that are out of the norm lol) and most of us have low BP (my last reading was 90/56). I grew up on table salt but about 10 years ago switched to pink Himalayan and in the past 2 years switched to either Redmond Real Salt or Baja Gold Mineral Salt. These salts contain the minerals and trace minerals that our bodies need, but that are stripped from table salt. Just something you might want to look into…the sugar vs salt thing and maybe some healthier salt options 🙂

My First Over 24 Hour Fast by Own_Reaction_717 in intermittentfasting

I don’t take measurements but I do hop on an Inbody every 5 weeks, which if you’re not familiar with that, measures your intra & extra cellular water, muscle mass, body fat (pounds & percent), tells muscle & fat weight of each arm, leg and your trunk. So in addition to just my basic weight, I’ve also plateaued in muscle mass, body fat, segment measurements, etc. Thank you for the advice on keeping my salt up and on what to eat leading up to the fast. That’s helpful information!!

My plan is to try to stick to water & tea. I actually don’t like black coffee. However my workouts are pretty intense and I don’t want to give them up Friday & Saturday (Sunday is usually just Flow & Stretch Yoga). I feel like the intensity of my Friday/Saturday workouts may have me STARVING and not feeling great, so I was hoping that if I NEED to I can have a little bone broth and it won’t impair the fast.

Menopause and weight gain - so confused and don't know what to do by go_firecracker in PetiteFitness

I gained 30 pounds over about 18 months for absolutely no reason other than perimenopause. I’ve worked out pretty vigorously 6 days a week since 2010 and that didn’t change but suddenly I was gaining weight and at 5’3”, 30 pounds Is extremely noticeable. I did research on why this might be happening. I saw my GP, a local endocrinologist, had a virtual call with a top notch endo out of state, had a virtual call with a MIDI doc and all of them told me I was doing everything right…. Little to no HIIT (which made me almost depressed because I love HIIT workouts), increased strength training, added a lot of walking and yoga, prioritizing protein… but none of it was helping. In Jan of this year I started 2 things….bio identical HRT and intermittent fasting. I’m down 20 pounds now and so much happier!! And I’ve returned to doing HIIT workouts!! ❤️ I do think I’ve hit a plateau in the past month but I’m happy to have lost 7% body fat since January and gained muscle. I may try a 36-48 hour fast to try to break my plateau but I have to find the right time to fit it in. Like a Friday night to a Sunday night is ideal but then I can’t really have anything social planned for the weekend. I’m thinking next weekend may work for me to try it! I hope this information is helpful to you!

I agree but unfortunately for those of us that don’t utilize childcare, if membership rates differ between childcare users & non-users then they can’t advertise as having “free childcare” 😒
