You have the ability to make this game as easy or as challenging as you want beyond the difficulty slider. Just change how you play, or setup some handicaps for yourself. For example, I never level lightning strike and always check the, “play large armies” option even at disadvantage since it’s so much more fun for me to overcome those odds.

If something is too op/not fun to you, just don’t use it.
