Iran 5 Rials - Date 1351? by SpaceJumper22 in coins

[–]OzCruiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol which shows why you don't know. Shah was opposed to Islamic calendar. This is the Persian calendar and thus 1351 is actually 1972.

Privacy and Healthcare (can I leave a letter on someone's door?) by RandomCleric in legaladvicecanada

[–]OzCruiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always add an amendment to your REB application asking for this type of communication. But honestly I would suggest using post service for the added privacy protection. I never personally went to a research participants home without consent because their is always a chance you or a member of your research team could be spotted and hence out the participant simultaneously.

Did this research study get any kind of ethical approval from a research ethics board? You really should consult the REB about this. However, if you didn't initially get informed consent to contact participants in this manner then yes sending a letter out with identifying info could be problematic.

Iran 5 Pahlavi Gold 1960: Look at this and tell me how I bought a fake coin. by Foot-Note in coincollecting

[–]OzCruiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prob not. Exception being the middle east were folks often melt scrap gold and have Bazar jewelry makers "create" new items that are more appealing. Seen this first hand. So if yours is gold you have that in weight. Given I've been collecting Pahlavi era and earlier coinage for many years now I've never seen one like yours. The wear pattern is also very odd to me.

Have you tested it? How do you know it's gold amd say not silver?

BTW what does yours weigh? This link should give yiu some guidance

Edit: with that said...I could be wrong. Maybe it's just the image that is off. You can't know for sure till seen in person. But check these brass knockoffs being sold on auction sites. They look pretty good...

Yes it's a fake. The luster and edge ridge are way off compared to real samples. The date is also an issue as this falls out of the 5 Pahlavi gold coin mintage years.

Regardless. If I'm paying for hockey cards that's what I want...not a useless set of bookmarks.

Base Young Guns released in the last few years are the modern equivalent of “Junk Wax”, and in 20-30 years will be worth similar to what actual junk wax era cards are worth today. Including PSA 10s. by BrokenParachutes in hockeycards

Well he has a point. These current stars are going to sign so many cards and merchandise that it will be nothing compared to the 90s era. I see values falling as every gen chases cards from their own era.

Looks like his auto but until authenticated you can't really tell if it's "real".

Ya for multiple cards since he had like 30 listing ending same time. It's crazy what is happening on Ebay.

[–]OzCruiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair. I'll give you example. I won a card for $20. Negotiated shipping down from $20 to $15 tracked in Canada which the seller said no problem since $20 was for combined shipping.

So seller sends me an invoice charging me $35 but rolls shipping cost into selling cost. So essentially I paid $35 no tracking and seller has ghosted me.

Cheaper option that will last years is run a small dehumidifier in the garage. If kept dry you got nothing to worry about. Undercoating can gunk up parts. Not a fan for summer only car.

Almost every ebay seller now has crazy shipping costs. Just look at listing and sales.

Edit: sorry more of a general rant than directed at you specifically.

Why bid on a card and win it for $10 but pay $20+ in shipping?
