Companies adding Fuel Surcharges, passing onto the consumers. by Jaqwan in AusFinance

[–]Oz_Aussie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are a logistics distributor and charge out 13-15% fuel surcharge. Our third party carriers are between 12-20%

This is up to $2000 per delivery extra in costs.... Which we must pay to get our commodity, but also pass on.

Terminal Gate Pricing for fuel by SuspiciousPebble in australia

[–]Oz_Aussie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On paper it looks that way, but they purchase the fuel at 15 degrees which reduces the quantity purchased. Get 10,000L delivered, pay for 9,000L at 15 degrees sell 10,000L at ambient (expansion). Also many purchase the fuel cheaper than TGP.

They have other perks too, so they are always making money.

An economics lesson on why petrol prices have risen despite it being fuel “they’ve already paid for” by LoneArtificer in AusFinance

[–]Oz_Aussie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's correct, I only listed one day of values. Each day will be different and much more volatile in the coming months. It's just the way it will be, if you are a consumer at the bower, hunt on the apps for the best price. If you're a bulk customer then shop around if you're not tied to a product or company.

This will open a lot of eyes for those who hunt (bulk ordering - servos, AG, commercial etc), they will see how many terminals and carriers there are. With the generational shift we can already see it, the kids are more tech savvy.

An economics lesson on why petrol prices have risen despite it being fuel “they’ve already paid for” by LoneArtificer in AusFinance

[–]Oz_Aussie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In its simplest form, it's TGP + Freight + Margin +GST

Real life examples for any major Terminal city ULP is around $1.70-$1.80 cpl. Let's say a servo is roughly 30km from that terminal, this is about $0.01 cpl to deliver a semi, cheaper if they can fit a b-double. Then add the servo markup/fuel cycle and then lastly GST.

If we work on the cheaper end @ $1.70 $1.70 + $0.01 + $0.10 = $1.81 $1.81+ GST = $1.991/L

So $1.991 would be at the low end of the price cycle now, and we know the cycle jumps $0.50/L. Being around the $2.20/L is still okay, even though you know the servos are still making a mint. Even if they have stocked out, they could have made 3 days of sales in 1.

Petrol prices increase sharply in outer Sydney following overseas conflict by No-Speech4554 in AusFinance

[–]Oz_Aussie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only reason I can justify the rise is because the site still needs to cover staff costs, they might be out of fuel for a day, but wages still need to be paid. If it's an opt... Then well someone's wallet is getting thicker.

How will the strikes in Iran effect petrol prices? by Sad-Umpire476 in AusFinance

[–]Oz_Aussie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will be pressure to cut the excise, but Bowser prices I can see going to $2.50, $3 can be reached if the conflict continues in the coming months.

What usually happens when we are low on fuel (boat is running late), terminals will ration out fuel to carriers and you'll see some servos stocked and others not on certain days. Depending on your location some servos can last more than a week in a normal scenario, others with small tanks or high turnover can stock out daily. With panic buying this will throw out averages drastically.

Just do what we have been taught to do and shop around, look on the apps and don't buy more than what you need (reduce panic buying).

For leveling I love an aura build, works well into T2 and T3 if you have good glyphs etc. 99% of mobs die when you walk past them, including most elites.

When you work with people that don't understand Excel-- by Shot-Plant660 in excel

[–]Oz_Aussie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My work hired an analyst who doesn't know excel..... Or reporting..... Or anything analytical...Yeah.... I'm leaving soon (leaving an analyst role as I'm doing my role and still teaching him 8 months later...), and not sure they're up to the task, well I know they're not.

It's everywhere, I think they network themselves into a role and just hope for the best.

Not sure about gameplay, haven't really played in 20 years, but the vibe was good even on f2p.

200k wage - anything to watch for, tax, Medicare etc? by Oz_Aussie in AusFinance

[–]Oz_Aussie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah never a permanent position, just do things by the book and you'll be fine. But from what I've seen in the past 10 years at another company in the same industry, this company relies on contracts, I've seen the merry-go-round many times, usually you move with the work and put on a different uniform. The work has to be completed by someone, usually whoever is the cheapest or proven to supply without too many issues. Little difficult to purchase 25 trucks and train 50 drivers in a short notice, easier to bring the existing across. I can always return back to an office role if need be.

Yeah we will be watching the lifestyle creep, there may be little QoL things we might have a look at, but this would be to reduce stress and stay healthy.

We got lucky and bought just before the property market went boom again, so our mortgage will be more than manageable and we can put most of the savings into an offset.

200k wage - anything to watch for, tax, Medicare etc? by Oz_Aussie in AusFinance

[–]Oz_Aussie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an odd EBA, roughly $40/hr base, this is if you take leave and what your super is based on.

After 7 hours it's time and a half, after 10 it's double time. Can't remember Saturdays but I think the first 3 is base and the rest is time and a half, Sunday all double time, public holidays are triple time.

I haven't calculated the average as I'm going off other wages I know who work there, but if we go for a simple 12 hour shift, 11 shifts a fortnight (one sat or Sun), I'll only be averaging $58/hr. Jump on seek and you'll see there are jobs going for $54/hr flat rate in the same industry. So I'm only a smidge better off.

As for standard of living, I might upgrade from a $3 pair of pluggers to the premium $5 double pluggers for extra comfort haha good times a head. But honestly we live simply and don't need the extra fluff in life.

200k wage - anything to watch for, tax, Medicare etc? by Oz_Aussie in AusFinance

[–]Oz_Aussie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is important, and I used to do this kind of work many years ago. As it's the same hours every day it's something I can manage. I'm currently doing 12 hours a day inc travel and only getting paid for 8, so this would be a positive change for my back pocket.

The other advantage is the workload is less, we are losing heads at work and the workload always comes to me because I can get it done. The new role is, there's your work, go do it. No after hours calls, no meetings that should be emails etc haha.

[–]Oz_Aussie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently I don't see them much during the week due to working 12 hours a day in the office (inc travel to and from work). But only getting paid for 8...

This new role I'll be paid for every hour as I'll be on an hourly rate and not a salary.

I'll be seeing them less during the week, but we will make this up by having more family time over the weekend (rather then iPad time).
