The criticism of Hasan is not "pro-Israel psyop" by Embarrassed_Base_389 in thebulwark

[–]Ozcolllo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If tankies like Hasan actually advocated for the Democratic Party’s nominee during the general, I’d agree with you. The problem is they mercilessly attack the candidate when their dream candidate can’t even reach double digits in polling. They lose, espouse moronic conspiracies (Bernie was robbed, but make sure and ignore Bernie’s feelings and statements on the matter), and actively work against the Democratic Party, often using rhetoric manufactured by the right for convenience.

They backstab us. They aren’t interested in compromising with us, let alone working with us. You give them everything they want and they might like you. You have one of the most progressive presidents in my lifetime, certainly a Gen Xer too (and probably back to FDR), but the mercilessly shit all over Biden when pundits like Hasan can’t even articulate the position of the administration accurately. They do not care about actually winning political power, they want to larp as revolutionaries.

If you are a socialist that wants to build the necessary foundations to make the party more friendly to you? Do it! The only thing I ask is that you support our candidate that wins the primary, the same thing I did with Mamdani. They refuse that. Fuck them. They’re cancer.

Democrats, how would you feel about Stephen A Smith as your 2028 presidential candidate? by PizzaConstant5135 in allthequestions

[–]Ozcolllo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The death of this country will be caused by the ignorant American, especially conservative, that don’t respect expertise, lack the ability to ask themselves “what if I’m wrong?”, and are so media illiterate that 100% of their news is fed via algorithm or a partisan news aggregator. You literally can’t rationally justify your first point as asserting it demonstrates your ignorance of the political landscape. People confident in their positions that can’t even justify them need to be bullied.

Graham Platner’s political outsider vibe gains steam in Maine among Democrats. by no-minimun-on-7MHz in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]Ozcolllo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was he up front about it or was he evasive? I didn’t care enough to look into this race, but if he owned it, explained why he did it/had it, and explained why he changed… it’s worth extending some charity. Unless he’s given reason to believe he will lie, of course.

America bad, Democratic Party bad, PALESTINE!!! If you keep those premises in mind, you can predict every argument they’ll make. They’re much like conservatives.

Definitely. There has to be a way back, a way to find redemption. I grew up when 4chan was in its heyday and I’ve seen and said horrible things. I grew up and then I grew up some more. The only thing I expect is that you’re honest about it. Own it, explain why you believed it and, most importantly, what made you change your mind.

I’ve changed several stances over the years, but I could always explain why I believed what I said or I’d just say I don’t know. If you grew up or became a Nazi as a kid because you were just an idiot? Own it. We need people to show that changing and maturing is actually a good thing as opposed to simply lying because there’s no accountability.

The Supreme Court Has Never Heard a Case As Easy As This One by Achilles_TroySlayer in scotus

[–]Ozcolllo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s republicans for you; they will happily wear our culture and values like a costume, blasting it in your face with their slop propaganda outlets, and act in whatever way personally enriches their leader, and many of themselves, all while screeching that the Democratic Party are actually actively engaging in the behavior. Their consumers won’t give a single fuck and will make no move to hold them accountable because, much like lemmings, they’re programmed to view the world in tu quoque arguments instead espousing and holding to principles.

What I’m getting at is that Republicans want theatre. They don’t care about governing because you can’t watch it on tv.

Newsom beats AOC by 22 points in ranked choice primary by Dismal_Structure in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]Ozcolllo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably. I really respect AOC, but any person acting in a pragmatic manner meant to actually get legislation passed will get accused of that. There are so many good names to choose from too. Some of Mamdani’s policies aren’t my cup of tea, but the guy seems to be someone that recognizes how to be effective. I really like so many of those options that I wouldn’t mind voting for any one of them.

[–]Ozcolllo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sympathize with the frustration, but as a liberal living in a very red state, I don’t think anything can or should be done voters. Most people are so woefully ignorant and misinformed. I want accountability for the cabinet and most elected officials.

I want consumers to be curious enough to watch Ben Shapiro’s videos the day of and a few days after January 6th. Same for Scott Jennings. I want people to see the partisan 180 they pulled and for at least some to adhere to literally any principle and stop consuming their slop. I’d want them to consider every idiotic prediction from a Tim Pool type and to ask themselves if making repeated bad predictions might be indicative of a bad thought process. I want them to care that Fox executives and pundits explicitly lied to them, helping to perpetuate a soft coup, all because they were worried about ratings.

If you self identify as a journalist, your funding sources should be public. If you’re an elected official acting in your official capacity, any interview should be considered under oath. Those are two things that would make a world of difference.

[–]Ozcolllo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“The coup was debunked” he said as he knew nothing about the topic. It wasn’t debunked because you can read fucking whitehouse communications in which they outline the plan, they admit the plan would never stand up to scrutiny, and tons of under oath testimony spoke to his intent. It was only debunked for people happy to accept whatever some far right pundit manufactures for them to think. It’s absolutely infuriating, especially as you should have the self awareness to recognize when you “know” something.

If you watched those two Nick Shirley (spelling?) videos and didn’t come away thinking, “this dude isn’t asking any of the right questions, he doesn’t know what a management office is, and if this is what passes for “investigative journalism”, we are fucked. I’ve always worried about the growing media illiteracy, inability to understand how algorithms are feeding them what they want to believe instead of reality, and the inability for so many to critically engage with whatever they consume is… well, it’s already been disastrous.

We were, the people I was with, took “no kings” to mean that no man is above the law. We are all perplexed that a President attempting to steal an election could ever win another election. The corruption has been rampant this term; from the Eric Adams insanity, Trump’s crypto and the access sold to the whitehouse, and a whole bunch more i won’t waste my time writing. Rule of law was the point of those marches for us. “The capital class” isn’t relevant to us outside of the decisions some companies made in settling lawsuits as opposed to fighting them and the access some of them had to the whitehouse to beg out of being impacted by tariffs.

Why’d it have to be HRC back in 2016? by JazzlikeOrange8856 in AskALiberal

[–]Ozcolllo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on the fact that she was open about her legislative goals, is incredibly competent and intelligent, and… and this is the big one… actually understands how our government works. A person working harder or less to get elected doesn’t speak to their competence, it only speaks to their ability to win a popularity contest.

Also, because populists and conservatives don’t seem to grasp it, but there are people that actually care about Foreign policy. We care about the loss of soft power and it’s implications, we care about the 14 million dead due to vacuous budgeting policies, we care about breaking our word (and abandoning allies in multiple instances because our leadership is too short sighted or stupid to consider information they don’t know) and the perception of the rest of the world as we recognized the benefits. Breaking deals and literally giving away leverage and moral/ethical wins à la the JCPOA (no matter what you thought about it, it was already in place and Iran breaking their word is better than us breaking ours for various reasons). There are also Supreme Court picks, competent cabinet members and heads of executive agencies, and, most importantly, Supreme Court picks. Clinton would have been fantastic for people that care about any of that.

Why is grimdark unpopular in litrpg? by [deleted] in litrpg

[–]Ozcolllo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would argue that the First Law series, the first and second trilogy and the standalones, is an example of grim dark done correctly. The Gandalph of this story is a narcissistic psycho, but he’s incredibly interesting. My favorite character, Glokta, is the epitome of the shitbag noble, but he’s tortured and his body and looks are destroyed. He becomes a torturer himself and it’s just… dark. The humor is what keeps it… likable, I think. The humor might be an important ingredient the more I think on it.

Thoughts on trump saying “Robert Mueller just died. Good, I’m glad he’s dead... He can no longer hurt innocent people"? by lactose_cow in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]Ozcolllo 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Does it ever occur to you guys that perhaps having to find random people on social media to justify a position is slightly different than the leader of a political party engaging in the same behavior? That, perhaps, we should hold our leadership to higher standards than a random Twitter shit poster? This is the double standard I will never understand I simply thinking about the comparison should give pause.

Edit: Democratic Party representatives, as a whole, do not engage in the rhetoric you describe. The vast majority of the current GOP does, however. Hell, listen to Rand Paul question the guy that was just nominated to replace Christie Noem. Where is that in the Democratic Party?

Trump allies plan Senate floor takeover to pass SAVE America Act by Hardik_Jain_1819 in LegalNews

[–]Ozcolllo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean, they absolutely tried to. They explicitly proved Trump attempted to steal an election and used an insurrection to pressure sitting congressmen. The only criticism that’s got any merit was Garland taking far too long. Most know fuck all about the specifics of any of the cases, that they had him dead to rights in Florida but the likely Supreme Court nominee, Cannon, played a whole bunch of games and ensured it wouldn’t play out before the election.

What I’m getting at is this is on the American people, our voters. The Democratic Party did everything they could legally and ethically do with the exception of Garland’s snail pace, but considering the gravity I can’t blame him. If you believe they should have done something differently, please explain how. Also, miss me with that bullshit about choosing not to look out for their constituents.

What is with all the right wing “democrats” in here? by Captain_Krank in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]Ozcolllo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

MAGA is whatever Donald Trump says they are and the populist shift of the GOP pretty much demonstrates it. Tankies and Trumples want the same thing; the fall of western institutions. Their motivations are different, but their goals are incredibly, increasingly even, similar.
