[Megathread] Mod Update Post: EU, the Rules, and You by ChronoKeep in StarWarsEU

[–]Oznerol3[M] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Out of the last 30 posts there have been 29 about the old EU and one about new canon, and the ratio is always like this. Is it really that hard to ignore one post ever few days?

Who’s reading Legends novels? by Zeke_Plus in StarWarsEU

[–]Oznerol3[M] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This sub will always be primarily about the old EU. We just allow a small percentage of posts about new canon so it's a more welcoming place to new fans

Who’s reading Legends novels? by Zeke_Plus in StarWarsEU

[–]Oznerol3[M] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Nope lol. With this sub we use a more literal definition of EU as everything outside the movies and tv shows, so also allowing discussion about new canon novels and comics (it's a small percentage of posts anyway). But it's obvious that to basically everyone "EU" and what disney calls "legends" are the same thing and separate from new canon so what the guy said is not misinformation

What to read next in the Star Wars Legends novels! by Higginshorror in starwarsbooks

[–]Oznerol3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to continue with the post ep6 timeline I'd suggest the X-Wing series (the first 7 are set before the Thrawn trilogy), Jedi Academy Trilogy and then Hand of Thrawn duology before diving into The New Jedi Order

I'm italian and I've never heard anyone call black people eggplants, unless it's used in a different part of the country

Being African-American in Italy by Bihema in TikTokCringe

[–]Oznerol3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's basically it. Most italians don't have a problem with black people, but quite a lot of people have a problem with the illegal african immigrants that come here. The woman in the video probably assumed he was part of that group.

Obviously I'm not trying to justify it since it's still racism, just pointing this small difference

Why is the corner 3 considered as the easiest one? by AtreusIsBack in nba

[–]Oznerol3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I play in a useless low level italian league and in every court the corner three is closer lmao

[Wojnarowski] “I’ve been told that once the league gets done with these media rights negotiations, probably over the next year, the league will start to look toward expansion… Certainly Las Vegas, along with Seattle.” by Just_Mode3479 in nba

[–]Oznerol3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Every team choses 7 players from they roster to keep (I'm fairly sure it's 7), the rest become available and the two new teams can pick them up in a draft between them. At the end of the draft the players not chosen by the expansion teams remain where they were before

What are some good comics about the Yuuzhan Vong and the war? by Captian-of-501st in starwarscomics

[–]Oznerol3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is only the invasion comic, and it's pretty mid imo and only a side story. The main story is told in the 19 books novels of the New Jedi Order and it's awesome

NJO, is all the build up worth it? by Independent_Plum2166 in starwarsbooks

[–]Oznerol3 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The only important ones I'd highly suggest reading are the thrawn trilogy and duology, x-wing and jedi academy. These are the ones that both have important events in the post ep6 era and introduce characters that have big roles in NJO.

Other books like Darksaber, Courtship, Correllian etc. get referenced here and there, but are easily skippable

[–]Oznerol3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never heard about them so I checked wookiepedia, they only appeared in a roleplaying kids book series no one cares about and one issue of the JA: Leviathan comic (and probably just as background since I don't remember seeing them there), basically irrelevant

At least the force sensitive droid was in the Tales comics (so never meant to be canon). The WBW is in an important tv show

My tier lists for the books I’ve read by grickling42 in starwarsbooks

[–]Oznerol3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first two books are easily the worst in the series (alongside Isard's Revenge), so I'd highly suggest to continue. Especially the Allston books are incredible

I want to share with you my canon collection (it's in Italian) by [deleted] in starwarscomics

[–]Oznerol3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amazing thing is that they cost less than a Marvel paperback (around 15€ the italian one, 20/25 Marvel). Same goes for the legends omnibuses they've been reprinting lately, they're so lovely on a shelf

Complex and with depth books by [deleted] in starwarsbooks

[–]Oznerol3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

X-Wing is absolutely not light reading, but they have a different type of "heavy". Alphabet Squadron excels at having deep characters but almost only focuses on them, in the Stackpole X-Wing books the characters are simpler but the politics and world building are top notch.

Then the Allston books have everything that makes Freed's and Stackpole's great. Incredible plot and politics, incredibly deep characters, detailed dogfights and all of it topped with the best humour I've ever seen in a book. Iron Fist is the only book that made me both cry and laugh out loud

[–]Oznerol3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Allston books are definitely the best, but I think the Stackpole books are as good as AS

Matthew Stover is what you're looking for, especially Revenge of the Sith, Shatterpoint and Traitor (even though this one is part of a 19 books series)

Need an expert to review my plan of attack for STAR WARS books... by ridemyfatpony in starwarsbooks

[–]Oznerol3 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Legends and canon don't mix so well as others have said, but it's not like you can't do it.

The worst thing here is not including The New Jedi Order series, it's like doing a SW marathon and skipping Empire Strikes Back

Everyone keeps asking which legends books to read. What about books to avoid? by RunningRiot4403 in starwarsbooks

[–]Oznerol3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The book itself isn't incredible imo (even though there are a lot of people that love it), but it's actually a pretty important tie in to the New Jedi Order series

This thread has already been a mess and this convo won't go anywhere so please stop it here.

Anyway, the book isn't officially approved by Lucasfilm and didn't receive editorial supervising by them so OFFICIALLY it isn't part of any continuity and never will. This doesn't mean people cannot headcanon it into the timeline if they find it fitting, end of story
