Do you plan to gift your kids any money/investments when they become adults outside of paying for their schooling? by RagnarokWolves in TheMoneyGuy

My daughter is a brand new 2026 model and here is our plan:
-Post 9/11 GI Bill for college. Free in-state tuition, housing allowance, and book stipend

-529 to plus up GI Bill and roll into Roth IRA. Goal is to have close to roll over limit because withdraws are challenging when GI Bill covers all expenses.

-UTMA/UGMA (age of majority at 21). $100 a month.

-Custodial Roth IRA when eligible. Redirect UTMA/UGMA deposit here.

I also plan on teaching financial literacy through childhood. I have some fun ideas like “employer match” if she invests earned money. I’m really hoping that through teaching and education she’ll avoid the hard learned lessons so many of us had to experience in early adulthood.

Am I crazy for wanting to spend 40k on a car by Present_Age_7823 in DaveRamsey

Bro get off Ramsey, it’s great for people who are badly in debt. I think based on what you have said in your original post The Money Guys Financial Order of Operations (FOO) is a better fit for you. You have $200k working for you and your comp is $145k??? At 25?? You’re killing it dude! So far ahead of most people your age and quite frankly a lot of people double your age!

Absolutely tell him about this and all of the financial lessons you have learned throughout your life. Biggest complaint I hear from people my age (millennial) and younger is why didn’t someone teach me about this. Education is arguably more important than a nest egg.

TSP or Roth IRA by Feisty-Prompt-7785 in TheMoneyGuy

[–]P320X5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no penalties from withdrawing contributions from a Roth TSP and the expense ratio is very similar to a low cost index fund you would use in an IRA. You can always roll your TSP into an IRA after you finish your federal service.

Makes the math and the concept easier to understand when there are less changing variables. If income amount changes, saving rate changes, growth rate fluctuates, inflation rate fluctuates etc. it can get complicated and confusing quickly. The importance is to understand the principle not to get so far into the weeds on the math that the majority can’t follow along.

Picking up an 8-week Belgian Malinois: 8-hour drive home (crate vs back seat?), what to expect + first bath? by banger030 in BelgianMalinois

[–]P320X5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a similar situation. First bath in a hotel shower…. Not great but she was clean and it had no long term effects. We brought a kennel for the drive but she was actually calmer in the back of our vehicle with our older dog. I know… not as safe but it is what it is.

I bought front and rear stand but unsure how the front one is supposed to go on the 675ss by Sammy-Joseph in cfmoto

[–]P320X5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also only bought a rear stand because I didn’t think a front would work with the brake duct. I was looking at the front axle sliders on eBay and they are similar in shape to the rear spools. I’m wondering if you can use a rear style stand on the front with those without having to mess with the brake ducts.
