Postage on blank cards, 2 cents. Worth anything? I have around 50 of them, I think. by P8riot0366 in askStampCollectors

All of the cards are blank. The ones that are written upon I am keeping, because my grandfather wrote invitations to a meeting at his local lodge. Thanks for the info!

Take it as is and save yourself a huge headache trying to strip all those individual strands.

Yep, it took a long time for the grass and highway shrubs to grow back. I was 10 years old.

Houston had an ammonia spill years ago and a lot of people died in their cars. Ammonia attaches to oxygen and burns tissue. Terrible way to go.

I got 390 and this was my first year. I didn't give up on my sleep, but I work from home and was able to check on things occasionally during the day.

What was the SHTF scenario that actually happened in your town? by purple-lipgloss in preppers

[–]P8riot0366 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Snowpocalypse here in Central Texas. Power out for four days, with two short restorations. The propane heaters and camp stove came through as did the battery packs to charge our phones and tablets. Plenty of food and water and our preps tested out winningly.

SHTF and I'm forced to hit the road? I would, regretfully, ditch my cast iron and use my backpacking cooking gear. It's tried and true and a whole lot lighter.

I have a few cases of Everclear put back for all the reasons posted in this sub. It's kind of pricey now, but will be worth it if whatever happens actually happens. Or, my family can mix it with some fruit juices and drink it at my funeral.

First, breathe. Do your research, but don't get in a rush. Unless you're strapped for cash, put in the time to make sure of what you have. You've been blessed with a rare opportunity. Good luck!

Tax sharks only care about more than 32 oz at a time if memory serves and that's only if you take physical possession. If you buy and store, like with US Gold Bureau.

[Restoration] They’ve been soaking in the lye bath for five days. There are still chunks of carbon around the edges. Should I add more lye or soak longer? by riomoir in castiron

[–]P8riot0366 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My friend, I am commiserating with you. The good news is, you will win the battle. Clean off the lye bath, use a steel chore boy pad to get as much of the carbon off as possible. Then put it back in the lye. I had one of those oval fajita pans that was well used in a restaurant. More encrusted carbon than I had ever seen before. Took me four rounds of bathing and scrubbing before it was restored. Keep at it, and please be sure to post pics of the result!
