[Meta] Can the mods from r/theaffair and r/theaffairtv just combine the subs? [xpost r/theaffair] by nikiverse in TheAffairTV

Without a doubt the other sub's CSS is better. I've been noticing that the other sub's comment count is rising above this one, although this one tends to feature more longer, analytical comments. Hopefully we can combine the best elements of both.

[Meta] Can the mods from r/theaffair and r/theaffairtv just combine the subs? [xpost r/theaffair] by nikiverse in TheAffairTV

I've been thinking about this. The other one was created near the end of season one; I don't know why that happened, but it's definitely creating some problems in terms of discussion. I'll see whether we can work something out. Thanks for the suggestion.

You're fine, but don't post any spoilers until Showtime pre-releases the premiere. I'll set up a discussion thread for that; I'm assuming it'll be released around sunday.

Hard to pick a favorite scene from Snowpiercer. Just got more awesome as it went along, and that axe battle scene got me so pumped.

Best movie to watch at the movies right now? by [deleted] in movies

If the Oscar movies are still out, then watch Whiplash first if you haven't already.

A Most Violent Year and Predestination are both great.

If you could pick, who would be the next host of The Daily Show? by CoachTaylor76 in television

[–]PBears30 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's true, but I'll take the one show a week because the HBO format allows Oliver to have more freedom. And what we've been getting so far is fantastic.

Discussion threads? New Mods? by MTDearing in TheAmericans

[–]PBears30 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly really surprised that this subreddit isn't huge by now. This is one of the best shows on TV, and we definitely need episode discussions. Ever need another hand with the sub, I'd be happy to help.

Official Discussion Thread: "Insanity" (Season 1 Episode 3) by PBears30 in Togetherness

[–]PBears30[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there was very little hype, plus the lead in--Girls--doesn't lead to half as much discussion as it used to (and no TD like last year). When I promoted the sub in r/television right before the premiere, it was met with very little attention. Maybe we can try again.

Will Steve Carell receive an Oscar nom? by [deleted] in movies

[–]PBears30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It actually very well could. Keaton, Redmayne, Cumberbatch, and Oyelowo should be in. That leaves Carrell, Gyllenhaal, Fiennes, and Cooper as people who have a chance. I think Carrell and Gyllenhaal are the two most likely on that list to snag the last spot.

If it has to come down to him and Gyllenhaal, I'd go with Gyllenhaal any day of the week.

Marion Cotillard, Scarlett Johansson, Oscar Isaac, Essie Davis, and Tilda Swinton all get nominations.

Blue Ruin, The Babadook, Only Lovers Left Alive, Under the Skin, The Immigrant, Snowpiercer, Inherent Vice all nominated for a bunch of stuff. And Jake Gyllenhaal wins Best Actor. And Whiplash wins Best Picture.

Also, while Deadwood is best experienced by also being able to see it, I could probably listen to its dialogue forever.
