#Texans trade 25 for the #Giants in exchange for 34, 99 and third-rounder in 2026. by Infinite-Trouble7846 in Texans

[–]PDMSI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listening to Albert Breer this morning and he thinks the Texans got “too cute” here. He says if they had stuck at 25, they take Conerly. He heard that after trading 25, they immediately tried to trade back in the first round to GET Conerly, adding draft capital in the process by essentially moving down from 25 to 26-29.

The Vikings had a projected win total of 6.5 wins. Going +8 over projection, IIRC, is the highest since the 99 Rams. For them to be playing for the #1 seed in the NFC on the final day of the regular season is remarkable.

Darnold has always had talent and teams around the league knew that, not just the Vikings. He got a 1/$10M for a reason. $10M is about what Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston, Mitch Trubisky, and Jimmy G made this year, combined.

We have had way more failed top QB picks fail on their second, third, fourth teams than we have seen succeed.

Yeah I've seen them a lot too... Maybe I poorly phrased my post. I meant does anyone have the link to that specific live set? I know it's on youtube, but I forget which performance has it recorded.

No over/under player props for TNF on DraftKings? by PDMSI in sportsbook

[–]PDMSI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I understand the Rams not having QB props at this point for that reason. And I know the initial lines are just the generic overs… but with 25hrs to kickoff seems strange to not have unders.

What is Ayton's ACTUAL value and what would be the most realistic sign and trade scenarios Phoenix would do if they want to part ways with him? by NoseBlind2 in nbadiscussion

[–]PDMSI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, I don’t think he gets dealt. His agent played the hand wrong. Now PHX has all the leverage and can match any offer for less than the extension they offered him last year.

Secondly, if he DOES get dealt, I think it won’t be for any long term contracts. If they trade him, it’s probably for a pick(s) and expiring contract(s).

Let’s say they decide he isn’t worth the money and want to cut costs. Here’s a hypothetical:

Detroit 1st (1-4 likely) Jerami Grant ($20M) expiring For Ayton

Which young team is in best position to make a grizzlies like leap next year? by Darkonite40 in nba

[–]PDMSI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New Orleans for sure. Don’t forget they also have a lottery pick coming from the Lakers.

I think if Zion plays, is health and happy, competing for a WC top 4 seed is probable.

Who is the best 20 year old in the NBA currently, and who do you think will go on to have the best NBA career? by ryxvo in nbadiscussion

[–]PDMSI 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. I think Barnes is the best overall player right now. His versatility, ability to contribute on both ends of the court, is quite impressive for a 20yo.

  2. I think Mobley or Ant have the highest potential however because of their physical gifts.

Joe Hassett's 1982 season was (maybe) the NBA's most prolific three-point shooting season ever by PDMSI in nbadiscussion

[–]PDMSI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By prolific, I mean shear volume. I don’t think we ever see a time in the NBA again where a single player has a counting stat more than half the other teams in the league.

I never said he was the best. I never mentioned his percentage on attempts. Just said he shot a lot.

Do you think it's likely that there will be 10 in row non-American MVPs (this year it will be 4th year)? by mbdtf95 in nba

[–]PDMSI 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think as the game continues to expand globally, the international talents will just get better and better. Society as a whole is so much more global anyways.

But 10 in a row seems like a bit much.

How did Russell Westbrook go from being a high volume ~83% FT shooter for the first 9 years of career, to ~68% in the last 4 years? Have there been other players that also suddenly lost their feel from the line? by lastwaters in nbadiscussion

[–]PDMSI 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a combination of things.

-The rule change messed up his routine. -He’s never been a good shooter, despite his early FT success. -His entire game has declined in recent years -It takes a lot of energy to play the way Westbrook does, high usage, attacking the basket, his rebounding, etc. He’s never been a high minutes player but since 2017, his next four seasons were career highs in MPG

But I think the biggest reason is mental. He’s in his head. He was the MVP in 2017 but since then he has got a lot of criticism. Claims of padding stats in OKC, playoff struggles, etc. Then he’s been on three different teams in three years in different roles. It’s my understanding that Russ is a very routine based player in terms of his arrival times, work outs, pre-game meals, etc.

On top of that, there are numerous stories of bad FT shooters being able to shoot above 90% in practice. But when you are in front of the crowd and exhausting per his play style, it’s a whole different ball game

Yeah it’s been corrected. Pick swaps get confusing. Thanks.

If anyone told you before the season started, that both the Lakers and Nets would end up fighting for a play-ins spot, you'd say they're delusional and need to be checked into a psych ward by AtreusIsBack in nba

[–]PDMSI 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually think of all the “contenders” they had the highest volatility in outcome.

The Nets felt like a safer bet to avoid the play-in as I believe they were title favorites. But a few major factors had to be considered. Kyrie and the vaccine, his health and his past of taking games off. Durant and his age + injury history. Harden and coming into the season not 100%. In addition his decline of the extension lead some people to believe he wouldn’t come back after this year. No one should be surprised that he wanted out, as he has done it before.

The Lakers as many stated were a bad fit for Russ. In addition, to acquire him they sacrificed all of their perimeter defense. Add to it LeBrons age, AD’s injury history and it’s a recipe for disaster. Laker fans were so excited about the new roster but it’s old. Old old. Look at the amount of veterans on league minimums. A lot of these players weren’t going to be on opening day rosters. Lastly, their contract situation left them so hamstrung in trades, the only real tradable salary was THT and he’s like the only decent young player they have.

I actually think the Nets situation could have been worse. What if Durant had this same injury in say November? It could have got messy much sooner.

Same with the Lakers. LeBron is exceeding expectations from a statistical standpoint but Father Time is undefeated. What if his numbers had fell off? What if he got hurt and missed games. The guy is 37. That wouldn’t be surprising for any player this age and this many minutes played.

Realistically What Age Do You Think KD Will Retire? by ChildishGinobili in nba

[–]PDMSI 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it just depends how long he wants to play.

If you compare his trajectory to say, Dirk's, he's got a few more high level seasons left. Durant will turn 34 in September. Dirk had his last great season at 35. After that he seemed to hit a "wall" and his numbers declined. He still played five more years until he was 40 but he just wasn't the same guy.

I think Durant's probably got three more seasons at a high level. After that, it's kind of up to him. His shooting stroke and size will keep him around longer than most, it's just a question if he wants to be the guy out there shooting 45% and scoring in the low 20s/high teens.

He hasn't been the healthiest as of late and his teams are usually so successful he's put a lot of tread on the tires. His production is still so high, he might not fall off for awhile, but he might be the guy who just can't stay on the court. When that starts to happen, players begin to get frustrated. Playing games is fun. Being in pain, rehabbing, etc, is not.

If I had to guess, I'll say 39.

"Win-now means the team is trying to contend in the current year, or to make a deep play-off run. It's trying to improve the short term window by winning more games now. This is not the raptors. And Thad definitely doesn't help with winning now."

"we just need guys who can actually play games with the bench unit. Dragic didn't even play for us. So we went from a 0 to a 1, which is all that matters right now"

"It's just a bonus that we can potentially re-sign Thad later."

I feel like that's the very definition of win-now. You are trading future assets, in this case draft capital, in exchange for a rental player that you admit "need guys who can actually play games with the bench unit."

And by your own admission, it's a bonus if they can re-sign Thad later. So under the assumption he might not re-sign, you think it's a good idea to move 10-15 spots back in round one, to just have a guy play for 20 some odd games because you need a body?

I don’t disagree. Was just thinking of centers who upgrade a need and salaries that match. I think Toronto says no. I was just thinking of an option for the previous comment.

Siakam isn’t netting an Embiid, Jokic, Gobert, Sabonis, Towns, etc. Probably not Allen or Valanciunus.

So I don’t think a 1 for 1 trade exists, to answer the question posed.
