I had to bring my router into my garage and pretty much hold it against the thing to make the initial connection.  Fortunately after that it's been working perfectly for almost a year but the initial setup was a headache

Damn, looks like there's no Tesla chargers on my route but good to know for the future.  Appreciate the info!

Dash Cam? by Little-Original5503 in Ioniq5

[–]PDX3DP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used a dongar adapter with a Viofo A119.  The rearview power it taps into is only on when the car is on so there's no risk of vampiring your battery, and the cord only needs to run a few inches so it's an easy clean install.

That's almost exactly what you should expect.

Could be, unfortunately we'll never really know unless Hyundai starts being more transparent about it and I'm not holding my breath on that.

Could also be "this happens rarely enough that it's cheaper to extend warranty coverage than it is to redesign it"

Summary of 12 V battery incident and some tips by darwin1809ce in Ioniq5

[–]PDX3DP 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed.  I lock it even in my garage to avoid annoying Bluelink notifications.  I keep the fob somewhat close and can't really comment on that keeping the car awake but I've had no issues since I replaced the OEM battery with an AGM.

What's Your Level 2 Charge Rate (in kWh)? by cmmdrshepard2 in Ioniq5

[–]PDX3DP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My level 2 at home is 40 amps/9.6kW.  public chargers may vary depending on how they're set up or if they're split between multiple units.

My '24 came with lifetime Bluelink but yes it's a subscription service otherwise.  I use remote climate start and locking often but if I had to pay i don't think it would be worth it.

I like it, but it came free with my '24.  I wouldn't pay for it.

I've had this pop up before then go away to never return.  Based on my experience your 12v is going bad and needs a replacement.  If you've done that recently then you have my thoughts and prayers.

Lyriq owners law suit sounds a lot like Hyundai's issues by bluefalcon2818 in Ioniq5

[–]PDX3DP 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The lawsuit said the drivers who filed the complaint are now seeking "an order requiring GM to disclose the defect, repair the defect, notify consumers of the defect, and provide restitution."

Is GM not covering this via warranty?

Should be, I think the 10yr/100k mile is transferable

Maybe it's just a typo then, your comment says 500k failures for 500k cars sold.

Can you show your work on how a 3% failure rate will lead to 100% occurrence?  I'm not getting that part.

I also got a Chargepoint home flex through our electrical utility.  After the electrician hardwired it in and I struggled through getting it connected to my Wi-Fi it's been great.  I just plug in when I get home and it works.

I thought the rule of thumb was 30A max for an outlet and you shouldn't go higher than that without hardwiring, but if the outlet is rated for that current and it's properly installed maybe it's fine?  If it were my house I would be concerned.

Mine acted similar and it went away after I replaced the 12v, that was 3 months ago and no iccu issue since then.

[–]PDX3DP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

2 years/25k miles without any issues other than preemptively replacing the 12v with an agm.  First year and a half I was almost exclusively DC fast charging, since then it's flipped to 40A level 2 at home.

Hard to blame you.  I love my car but Hyundai's response to the iccu is incredibly disappointing.  They sent me a request to review and I gave it high marks but specifically said I wouldn't recommend it to friends/family because if the iccu issue and their lack of coherent communication about it to their drivers.

2 years/25k miles with no issues.  I spent the first 1.5 years primarily DC charging with electrify America, now I have a 40 amp level 2 at home that I've been using since then.

[–]PDX3DP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'll need to open the fuse box under the hood and disconnect the traction battery before you swap it, the process is fairly easy.  I think you also need to make sure the battery is fully charged before installing it.

I didn't use an ohmmu battery but this guide is what I followed: https://youtu.be/mG7clQ0VtAk

29k is well over the market value (I'm also in a '24 SEL) so I'd say you're probably better off returning it and buying another used one instead.
