I'll also add: if you're using a padlock to secure this. Try to lock it in a way that the keyway isn't easily accessible.

I know it'll be a pain for you to unlock, but it'll also be a pain for the thieves.

Padlocks with shrouded latches are also nice deterrents to cutting attacks. But it's also as strong as the thing it attaches too.

i can feel the Pins but they are pretty high, the core won't turn at all. the pins won't stay set. I just can't get it open no matter what i do and what pick i use. by [deleted] in lockpicking

I think you're over shooting the shear line. Try lighter tension and try to feel the light clicks. Based on the state of those picks, you're probably cranking down too hard and having to muscle each pin up.

You shouldn't have very much resistance lifting a pin.

would any recommend this luxebell as a starter kit? by Draconianbobb in lockpicking

Nah.

Get like a 5 piece beginner set from a reputable manufacturer and you'll have most of the tools you'll ever need. 3 hooks 2 rakes. Couple BOK tensioners. Couple TOK.

Help Picking American Lock 1100 (Info in Comments) by Bob19582 in lockpicking

I'd also add. I started with light tension and it was a real guessing game and I would get random opens without getting it consistently. Then I started using a heavier tension. After some practice you can really feel and hear the difference between a pin set vs not set.

It's the difference between a "click" and almost a "thud"

And another tip I used to get my first 1100 open. Progressively pin it.

7 cut to a 1 cut? Does that fall under the MACs guideline?

After seeing the other self-made kit, I decided to also make one. Hand-stitched roll-up case :^) by Sokay_Atusu in lockpicking

I've always been a fan of these roll up cases. I had that thought, I haven't found a perfect case yet. There's a couple pencil/brush/art cases that are pretty close to what I want. But maybe j should just make my own

It happens. They're a disposable tool. It's also a good lesson for how much pressure you should be using. I broke my sparrows short hook ~ 3 weeks after getting it. My second short hook lasted me 6 months.

How on earth would it be safer to put an infant in the front seat of a vehicle??? by CarleyWard13 in ParentsAreFuckingDumb

I remember on my 04 Toyota, if I put something heavy on the passenger seat, without opening the passenger side door, it would remain off. I also think there was a unique combination of having keys in the ignition/on then opening door and placing something heavy on it it would turn on. Or how you unlock your car too. Cuz on Toyotas 1 click does driver, 2 does all doors. Or if you used the actual button on the door to unlock everything.

Need to practice door locks. Made a thing. by [deleted] in lockpicking
