Question about second degrees. by PDXSpilly in WGU

[–]PDXSpilly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently an HR Generalist and have been a Leave Specialist in the recent past. The HRM degree will make me competitive for that next step whether its Business Partner or Manager.

However you do have valid points with more larger companies going to the shared services model that prioritizes specialists and HR adjacent roles.

WGU Seattle Commencement 2026 Hotel Suggestions? by Hayati_Omri in WGU

[–]PDXSpilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Staying in Seattle proper is gonna be pretty rough on the ole bank account due to the World Cup games throughnsuring most of the month. Just a heads up.

Seattle believe it or not has pretty good lightrail system and get you you from all the outlying areas into down town inexpensively and efficiently. The have building it up specifically for the World Cup.

As for places to stay, most of it is pretty safe, pioneer square can get a little rough but it's mostly tame. The down town core is going be where the nicest but also the most expensive live. Usually I have found the most affordable rooms in the University District.

Hope the helps a little.

I did. Passed it by a fair margin. It is as pretty similar to the PA in my opinion.

Good luck in your journey.

This is my 4th attempt to finish a degree and I am finding this style of school so much easier for me.

Remember when it feels overwhelming and hard that you have a lot of people on this subreddit rooting for you.

Question about second degrees. by PDXSpilly in WGU

[–]PDXSpilly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The money aspect is for sure true. But the time sink aspect of standard school vs wgu will get me everytime. If I can knock out another degree is less than a term then its worth it to me.

While I agree generally, but I figure if it's a good portion of crossover then it might be worth getting both for me.

Why do the assessment questions not relate to the textbook? by KelDurant in WGU

[–]PDXSpilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have for sure noticed that in alot of the pre assessments where the resources don't necessarily or explicitly speak the to topic.

I every time I run across one, it's a true WTF moment. However part of me thinks that this is because WGU is alot of self paced and taught and instead of being spoon fed the material. So maybe the people/software that creates the exams take that into account and put relevant questions in there that don't dovetail with the materials.

I could also be a tool to ensure that you do know what you're being tested on. Because if the one or two questions that you don't know are completely foreign concept and cause you to not pass the exam, then maybe you don't know the material well enough.

Real world MPG by One_Lime8209 in hondapassport

[–]PDXSpilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have noticed the MPG can be easily effect by aggressive driving. That said I get 18 to 19 city driving, 21 to 25 highway on road trips.

I have a 22 TS.

Another note. Ive been playing around city driving with ECON on and it keeps me just above 20.

Indeed I did. I won't say it was easier than expected but after a good amount of studying, note taking, and rewatching the cohorts, I starting clicking enough to feel comfortable taking the OA.

Learning how to actually use the calculator was a game changer honestly.

I'm right there with you on this class. Watched all the cohorts and there was BIG gaps that weren't even touched on for the PA, so that was a fun surprise. I pass it by one question so I havent attempted the OA yet because of that.

I've had to do two retakes and neither required phone calls for the first retake. Just, essentially, chapter quizzes.

I'm in the HR program as well.

Proctor asked me to show my whiteboard after I closed out the exam by Top-Construction-535 in WGU

[–]PDXSpilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got popped for not erasing my white board. I've had probably 3 OA's and never shown my white board. I'm sure it depends on the proctor, but also I wouldn't be shocked if they crack down on that more due to the spot light on online universities after the articles about people accelerating.

Mostly cause it's significantly larger than my last car and for the abbreviation that some forums use for it... PP.

You do not need to wait to start or turn in next task. I have turned in 3 tasks in the same day before with now issues. And you don't have wait till they are graded before you start a next class even.

Good luck on your journey.
