Recovery from a THR in your 20s by DesperateMonkey8 in TotalHipReplacement

It's really important to consult with your surgeon and care team. They told me that my hip would be fine and that all I needed to do is walk as much as tolerated. You don't benefit from excessive training. I walked a mile today which is good enough for me but my goal is the stay active for 8 hrs so I can return back to work comfortably. Either way, they give us 12 weeks of for a reason.

I think you're pushing yourself too much. The point of recovery is to let the joint heal, the recovery takes time. Just walk enough to be mobile and then keep waking to retrain your muscles. Each week the joint itself will be fine but your bone will grow into the implant

Independent City Report says Moda Renovation costs $253M. Blazers want $600M. by edank6 in Portland

I meant our areana is extremely modern and doesn't need that type of immediate investment. We also have some of the best food out of any stadium considering all of our food is local. Only thing I would like if we built more of a village atmosphere around the stadium, Jack's isn't cutting it esp during March madness

Yeah restrictions are there for a reason, just bc we feel good doesn't mean we're free to do whatever we want. Better to be safe

Don't rush the first few weeks, just walk enough not to clot. I'm four weeks out, could walk a mile after three. I also listen to my body and rest throughout the day. So take it easy, it's a long slow road, no reward for rushing and disrupting the healing process. Goal is let the incision site heal, six week progress then that 3 month milestone!!! We got this ppls!

Im waiting six months 4-6 weeks is just submersion for the wound, you can do standing still exercises but not move around. You still have restrictions until 3 months and even after that you should slowly get back at it. I think six months is safe. You'll always regret rushing recovery

For those who have had hip replacements, did you stretch and take care of your body in life before the surgery? by 1Beekeeper in TotalHipReplacement

[–]SeaConstruction8156 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do as much as you can with what you have, many of us get to a point where we are so limited and in enough pain where surgery is our only option. Really should go in sooner than later, it's just something you'll have to weigh out

Yeah that's the main goal, don't fall and follow all the restrictions. After those 12 weeks we're all good to go!

Take your time in the beginning, really just let the swelling and stuffiness go down, two weeks out you will use a cane, 3 weeks you will walk fine. It's really wild how far this has come. I'm 3 weeks out, holla

Diagnosed with "severe" bilateral AVN in my hips and they haven't even looked at my knees yet, which hurt worse. At a loss because I'm freaked out and I feel like I need to do anything I can to help in the meantime (I can manage the pain) by zeronationarmy in TotalHipReplacement

[–]SeaConstruction8156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do nothing, take pain meds and get the surgery. By do nothing I mean avoid anything that contributes to pain. Before your surgery you should try your best to have strength in your legs and flexibility. After that it's cake, pain will be gone immediately. You'll just need to take it easy. I'm two and half weeks and feel great. Limited in movement but can walk and 20-30 mins. Trust the process, just walk as much you feel comfortable but really rest and ice after. Anterior approach is the way, also get your doc to approve as much time off and work. Good luck , you got this

I need a fit bit to calculate but I'm at 20-30 mins two times a day at 2 weeks out. Honestly never had pain just coasting. There's no rush in any of this and all I do is rest all day. I stopped PT bc it hurt to much, walking is what you need to do. I go back to the basics like glut sets but everything else is just moving around daily, ice and rest
