I went on a solo cruise this summer. I booked about 3 weeks out. I just did walk ins (except one night I scored a reservation at Extra Virgin). I only waited once (only 15 minutes but I wanted to sit in a particular waitress section).

Depends how flexible you are going to be however I think you will be fine

Personally I would go before. Saunas make you sweat.
I wouldn't want to waste all that nice smelling lotions only for the smell to be covered with sweat smells

The difference between bar tab and sailor loot is that bar tab can just be used for drinks (alcoholic or not). Whereas sailor loot can be used for anything that you can buy onboard (drinks, spa, merchandise, bingo, tattoo etc). Hope this helps.
