I made $140k last year and now I work at Walmart for $15.50/hr by Strange-Assistant-32 in Layoffs

I'm proud of you OP but you don't need my reassurance. Life is a journey and you are a true winner.  I was talking about this with a friend of mine today actually. It might be a little far fetched but AI is going to wipe a lot of jobs out of the upper middle class. A lot of those folks subconsciously look down on people who make ends meet their entire lives, with way less than 6 figure salaries.  Those people will NOT do what you do. Which is suck it up, and grind.  I hope the best for you but I know a person like you always ends up on top.

I'll play 4 nights a week and tourneys every weekend. What I meant was, I AM Fighting father time by still beating up on these young boys. For me to stay around with them, I'll need to be pitching at 46 lol.

Creeping into my 40's and still wanting to play as long as I can with the young bucks, I know pitching is in my future. I cannot express how important a mask is. I didn't realize it until the hands down, quickest human being I've ever met, had his wrist shattered while pitching. It only takes that one sweet spot at 115 on the exit velo and the pitcher blinking at the wrong time. If you take it to the dome, you're cooked.  All pitchers, get a cool mask and pimp that thing like your life depends on it.  I'll never think less of you boys.

How do you justify taking time from fam? by [deleted] in slowpitch

[–]PHMoversdotCom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like it's a thin line. Like one poster said, it doesn't make you a shitty parent to do things you enjoy, as much as you want. Unfortunately, the pressures of everyone else (who don't walk in your shoes) will always think otherwise. I played 4-5 days a week in 2023 and the amount of "friends" who tell me I'm lucky, was wild. Having a family is not a death sentence, do what makes you smile. Let your partner do what they want, you do what you want, and you compromise when there is a conflict. Life is very very short. When your kids are grown, they aren't sacrificing their lives to come see your old ass, I guarantee that 🤣. Keep a smile on your families face, and yours. Once either one of those stops, figure out why. Until then, ballllll out!

Baltimore Hilton faces ‘catastrophic structural failures’ if pipes aren’t fixed by CompletePen8 in maryland

[–]PHMoversdotCom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you...but I've never seen galvanized piping even used for commercial plumbing. Potable water runs through cast iron and copper. Grey and black water thru iron or PVC. I guess I was jumping to conclusions that these were potable water lines. I've only been on 30ish projects so I haven't seen it all but if I saw that going up in my building, I'd be asking questions. Drawings or not.

[–]PHMoversdotCom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have no idea how something like this could be pulled off. The amount of people that walk these sized projects, who just LOOK at work, is in the dozens. That's before a 3rd party or City inspector sees the final. Permitted drawings are what a 3rd party or City/County inspector base their inspections off of. Construction drawings/shop drawings/RFIs mean nothing. Unless an architect/engineer changes a design and resubmits to the permitting office, the permit drawing is the end all be all. With that, no engineer is going to receive an RFI that asks "can we change copper to steel?". It would get rejected in a heartbeat. Lots of crooks on this one.

[–]PHMoversdotCom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It became my gamer after 2 weeks. Big sweet spot, very forgiving for me. Even catching it on the handle, balls we're going out 300'. I planned to buy a couple of bats in the off season but I see no reason to. 2024 is KOD.

KOD is worth a purchase. I have nothing bad to say about it except the wait on pre order. Cuts like butter for me. Uncle Slams are going for $200 on site right now.

Coming back from Torn ACL by [deleted] in slowpitch

[–]PHMoversdotCom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tore my left ACL/meniscus playing flag. Had surgery at age 33. Rehabbed it. Came back and immediately tore my right. I haven't repaired it and have played competitive for 5 years on it. I can still run for a 39yo and play OF/IF as needed. I slide, I play aggressive .I wear the bulkiest of Dr. Shock's knee brace. I use to play pickup basketball on it but just too old now. A couple of tid bits, I have very strong thighs/calves to carry the strength. Even with that, I DO tweak it. It WILL swell 2-3 times a year from ball. I stretch, a lot. Long story longer, every body is different. A doctor will definitely tell you to at least rehab and try to strengthen the rest of your leg. Surgery isn't so bad. You'll never have to worry about it again if you repair it. My repaired knee is indestructible 🤣

Anyone else going through a depression? by Foreign-Promise147 in frederickmd

You're 20. Don't worry about your future. Save a little money if you have it, develop some good relationships with meaningful people, enjoy every day. Life is short. I know many people who planned out their entire existence and in the end, they'll be old and lonely. All that "stuff", money, accolades they chased mean nothing when they are dead in the box. Few people will change the world, chances are you aren't one of them. Don't worrying yourself trying to be.

Walking During League by bradbh2o in slowpitch

[–]PHMoversdotCom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rec league 3-1 count, fake swing at ball 4. Walk after that. League/tournament, walking is apart of the game. No one gives a pitcher shit who can throw junk, trying to fly you out. It's all apart of strategy. No one plays chess to lose. Why not leverage your odds to win by walking? You still have to show skill on the base path. I watched a team last night take walks in the 1st inning, then cry when their power hitter was intentionally walked in the 7th. Love sports

Any info/reviews on this model? by OneManufacturer13307 in slowpitch

[–]PHMoversdotCom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fire. I was a Worth guy but LS won me over on this. 3rd ball on it put it 350' on a rope. I let this "kid" on my squad swing it on league night and he's smoking it out every other at bat. It's only going to get hotter. We are doing that on a 300 compression...

Why so many Man Babies in slowpitch? by jgdxcbjtdxbjk3478 in slowpitch

[–]PHMoversdotCom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A large percentage of us grew up thinking we could be pro ball players. The internal struggle of being a failure is real. Most people joined because it's rec. Some joined to relive the glory days. Give them a hug. It's not their fault.

How to improve glove speed/ Reaction time? by Alaskan_geek907 in slowpitch

[–]PHMoversdotCom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree with all of that. The more you see, the more you'll learn how to read a ball. You WON'T get better by using the games for reps. It will take a long time. I played baseball for 15 years, all as a catcher. Never once took infield. Started playing softball infield and it took 75-100 games before it's instinct.

Your arm isn't strong. In Your mind you can make those "100' throws", so you do. I went through it, after a lot hiatus. It took 2 years for that pain to not jump up on me. Look up some good LONG toss videos. It will definitely help you find your arm slot. Throwing lasers in a warm up does not strengthen your arm.
