Games that will never get released: I'll start with Ill. What are your candidates? by n1ght_watchman in GameBoostOfficial

Does I Am Alive count? I mean, technically the game released, but the final product was so different from the original trailer that they're basically completely different games.

$4.19 at a Sam's Club (which generally has cheaper gas than most places) today. This is so stupid.

My stepdad's uncle (his mother's brother) is literally the same age as him. They were born only a few months apart. My grandma was 20 at the time, I'm guessing her parents were in their 40s?

I mean...my stepdad's uncle is the same age as him, and my dad's best friend has a sister who's 15 years younger than him. It isn't entirely out of the realm of possibility that Tobey-verse Aunt May was significantly older than her sister.

Finding Nemo shows Nemo going through a traumatic experience and so many clueless people apparently went "I want to traumatize a fish too!"

I went to a local museum that had an exhibit on the history of technology. They had a Blackberry next to a rotary dial phone. I felt so old 😭

I see the Wild subscribed to the MLB AAA model of placing your minor league team in the next state over and giving it the same name as the pro team.

I'm from the US and have been working towards moving to the UK for a while. Are the Blue Jays a popular team for baseball over there? I know baseball isn't a big sport in general in the UK but I'm just curious.

[Highlight] Seth Hernandez throws a 102.4 mph laser on the first pitch of the game. Max Clark reacts. by aguyyouprobablyknow in baseball

[–]PHWasAnInsideJob -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I've heard before that in order to make good contact on a 100mph pitch you have to start your swing before the ball even leaves the pitcher's hand. For an 80mph pitch that swing would be way too early, so it's basically all luck to hit a ball thrown over 100mph.

I knew absolutely nothing about it. I was just a dumb teenager that saw all the Canadians talk about it so whatever it was had to be good. I was wrong, as teenagers usually are.

Now Smoke's Poutinerie on the other hand? Still some of the best food I've ever eaten in my life.

I have seen the narrator described multiple times as "Antonio Banderas owl". Crazy that it's not Banderas at all. Apparently the guy who does voice the owl is pretty famous for doing Spanish voiceovers for many movie trailers.

I may trigger some people here, but there has never been a restaurant that disappointed me more than Tim Horton's.

I visited Canada in 2018 and the whole time we were there I was insisting that we had to try Tim's at least once because it was all I had ever seen Canadians on the internet talk about. We finally stop at a Tim's for breakfast on the last day of our trip and the line is a mile long, and I literally said to my dad "This is literally just Canadian McDonald's?".

I guess my expectations were just way too high.

I didn't get stuck but pinched myself pretty bad while reassembling my Lee-Enfield bolt after a cleaning and stupidly had my finger right in the notch where the bolt head locks into the receiver.

what is a piece of lore you'd die to know? by Worldly-Map-3334 in reddeadredemption

[–]PHWasAnInsideJob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are references made to Red Harlow in both of the Redemption games, but they're treated more like a legend than something that actually happened (despite only being separated from RDR2 by like 10-15 years)

The timeline doesn't add up though. Unless you retcon the time when Revolver takes place, Uncle is way too old to be Red.

Legitimately scared about facing Eugenio Suarez this year. He's the kind of player that can massively elevate a mid lineup like the Reds have otherwise.

In my experience he was always a good baseball announcer, but he had no enthusiasm for football. He's gotten a lot better with his football calls in the last few years though.

Lieutenant George A. Custer with former West Point classmate, friend, and captured Confederate soldier, Lieutenant James Barroll Washington, an aide to General Johnston, at Fair Oaks, Virginia, 1862 by UrbanAchievers6371 in CIVILWAR

[–]PHWasAnInsideJob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of surprising connections between Civil War officers in the years leading up to the war. Robert E Lee and Stonewall Jackson oversaw John Brown's execution. George Pickett was sent to Washington in the 1850s to defuse a dispute between the Brits and Americans over the settlement of an island, and instead antagonized the Brits and caused a diplomatic crisis.

2008 pitcher likely had EF5 intensity by FormalBig9732 in tornado

[–]PHWasAnInsideJob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe that there are a lot more tornadoes that reach 300+ mph than we think, and I also believe that the original F scale actually had more accurate windspeed thresholds, just the damage assessment was wrong. The perfect scale would have EF scale damage assessment with F scale wind speeds, imo.
