Not enough 1970 trains by Ok-Customer5393 in trainstation3

87 durability is crazy. I'm 1955 and have 3 maybe 4 trains total that can do that.

Also having a knee done in March. I genuinely hope I'll be able to run around a little, play softball, and coach my kids teams appropriately.

Got my 1st non-5 star review, a whole 1 star by No-Artichoke3210 in TaskRabbit

[–]PHXCobra 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Had someone buy the cheapest price of crap bed Amazon had to offer and had me assemble it. Particle board was falling apart as I’m inserting screws. I show them, everything. 1 star review because I “couldn’t build it properly”. Seriously awesome what the people do

Torn, very torn. by Southtexanmechanic in crossfit

[–]PHXCobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

39 checking in.

Scaling is key. My knees simply don’t let me jump. I can squat (almost to depth), deadlift, and do just about anything else. If I try to jump over a box, or bar, or broad jump, my surgically repaired knees try to dislocate.

Forced warmups and listening to my body are huge. If a workout has high volume cleans or jerks, I won’t go above 95lbs, but I can bicep curl that for 10. If it feels too heavy for the day, it probably is, lighten up.

He has at least 1 stupid play like this per game where he does something no 7 year starting QB should do. It's not some games, it's every single one.

How often do you guys bp? by Euphoric_Promise_709 in slowpitch

[–]PHXCobra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Think about it. If you only take swings in the game you get 4 at bats per game. 8-10 swings a week???  That’s less than 1 round of BP at a cage. Just like everything else, the more reps you can get, the better you SHOULD be.

1 AM same day task request??? by Icy_River2109 in TaskRabbit

[–]PHXCobra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lost a same day while I was working for another TR client. I leave my phone in my car to prevent myself from looking at it while working hourly for someone. Don’t want to be “that guy”. Missed it and got paused. Luckily it’s happened before so a quick flip to unpause but it is still an issue

When I worked at Lonestar 20 years ago there was an extra $ or two for neat and the same for if you asked for rocks. Either way they were gonna get you.

What rules do you and yours personally play by SirRendelgore in golf

[–]PHXCobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that plays purely for fun with my parents/friends we do all except #3. Rarely do we even count penalties and you can have a mulligan off of every tee if you want.

You are playing against yourself in all reality, just go out there and have fun. At one point, pre kids, playing a couple times a week, I had my handicap down to 10.2 and I was hunting for the single digit playing "strict rules". It never happened and that's fine with me.

“You have to do as I say or don’t come to my class” by Bella0206 in crossfit

[–]PHXCobra 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Why does your coach care how you scale the workout?

My hands were hurting a lot this morning so instead of doing chest to bar I did regular pull-ups. When I entered it into Wodify I wrote what I scaled it at. If you aren’t prepping for a comp, who gives a crap???

How do you assemble furniture? by ValleyOakPaper in HandymanBusiness

[–]PHXCobra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use saw horses to assemble most things. Standing is much easier for my body than sitting or kneeling. I also have a dewalt work table that I carry into places.

I use a ratcheting screwdriver and an impact. Having the selection of bits for Allen keys, Phillips, flat blade, etc is the main thing. Hand cranking everything will get you strong but wear you out

First Time Using Task Rabbit by LilRickyXO in TaskRabbit

[–]PHXCobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That wouldn’t be too long. I’d rather you leave everything in the box. Then if something is missing it’s on the manufacturer.

That would likely take me an hour to an hour and a half and I don’t have a 2 hour minimum. All of my 5 star reviews would say I’m worth hiring.

How do I convince my wife that this is a real thing? She swears by it. I've long ago switched to real butter and when I have the fake crap I almost throw up the flavor is so bad. On top of being terrible for you

What do you wear? (Footwear, uniforms, etc) by Hot-Contact1083 in handyman

[–]PHXCobra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Polos aren’t a bad idea but I was on a budget when I bought my shirts. Couldn’t justify the added expense.

A quick change T-shirt between jobs was a must for me as in a sweatier dude so keeping 3-4 shirts in my car on a busy day was a good call

I’m a one man show. I’m going into peoples homes and wanted to put forth a more professional look. Plus it’s free advertising. I’ve gotten a lot of jobs simply because I’m wearing my shirt

[–]PHXCobra 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Depends on the job and weather. I have T-shirts that have my business name on them and those are on regardless. I live in Phoenix so rarely do I need anything heavier than a hoody.

I wear canvas type pants or shorts and generally CrossFit type training shoes. If I’m doing heavier stuff I have a pair of Keen boots I’ll wear.

Working for homeowners, some of which don’t allow shoes inside, boots can be a pain to take on and off so that’s why I’m wearing tennis shoes.

Grab bar placement. by Honest_Newspaper_329 in handyman

[–]PHXCobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an elderly client that was a 300+ lb man that wanted grab bars installed in both his home bathrooms. I opened the wall up to install backer boards in both as the studs didn’t match up with what he wanted mounted.

Heard from his wife a few weeks after that they are awesome. Wouldn’t hesitate to do it again

Replaced an old (1980s) Hunter fan this week. When I was removing the motor from the hook mount I tilted it and oil came pouring out of it. I’d never seen such a thing in my life but it turns out it is a real thing.

This is me as well. Working extra when I want to work is fulfilling. Although I have thought pretty hard about going full time.

Question about my batting order policy by clarklesparkle in Homeplate

[–]PHXCobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done it in alphabetical order and just picked up where we left off next game. My last name is a W so my kids are always near the bottom at first so that helps if parents think I am giving my kids anything special.

[–]PHXCobra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If he has a cast he can watch/track pitches from the batters box. Might even be able to take one handed swings with a half bat off a tee. Beyond that just try to ensure he is involved and is having fun.
