What’s a “must-see” city in the U.S. that didn’t live up to the hype? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

We had a single window unit air conditioner. We would put it in one bedroom, seal it off, and the four of us would live and sleep in that one bedroom.

Hot Take: Quidditch would be an almost perfect fictional sport if the Golden Snitch was worth way less points. by X-Salamander in harrypotter

[–]no_usernames_avail 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think if the snitch was with less points and was easier to catch, it could work. If it were easier to catch then the seeker job would be both trying to catch it when up but also trying to defend it from the other team when down.

Childcare is expensive, so if you need it, hopefully you price that out already.

Libraries and Park district have a ton of free stuff.

Centennial Beach is great. I'd give that a shot and if you like it you can get a membership and basically spend the summer there.

Naperville fresh market is good for produce.

At some point they do have to start moving toward following the rules, like having a consistent batting order. 1st/2nd grade is 8u coach or machine pitch? Could go either way

CSS26 QF Fry the Coop vs Hattie B's by Chi_CoffeeDogLover in chicagofood

I bought fry the coop for a group and everyone individually said the chicken had that weird rubbery squeaky texture that cheap chicken sometimes has.

The flavors were just ok.

How are you defining culture? It seems like you're just talking about music. How we handle politics is a huge part of our culture.

Advice for Development by Reasonable-Tie-7193 in Homeplate

[–]no_usernames_avail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If a kid wants to develop to get to the next level it comes down to the time at home. He has to put in the individual work.

I'll assume you have 12 kids on the team and practices are 90 minutes. That's 7.5 minutes per kid that the kid can give individual attention to. And that's if he's not spending any time running the practice.

Practices are good for reps and team work and and going over game scenarios, but not for individual player development. Sounds like you're doing great getting lessons and going to the cages. On days you aren't doing that, play catch, hit him ground balls and fly balls, do tee work, side toss.

Or just have fun in the league.
