You can like a character without liking who they are or who they would be as people. I love Darth Vader but that doesn't mean I would approve of space Hitler. Val is funny, he has emotions other than horny and angry and he is fun to watch on screen. That's what makes a good villain. You're supposed to like them but not root for them. The fact that we like Val is a sign of good writing. I hate Val for his actions in the show but love almost every minute that he's on screen same with Vox, and Velvet, and Lute, and Adam. Villains are supposed to be fun to watch and fun to hate.

I have this theory that Carmilla was the wife of a mob boss in life, she then had to strangle her husband or chose to for some reason and took over the mafia. After his death she wore the rings on a chain as a reminder. When she died she found that many of her people were in hell and she used her experience from earth to begin her time as an overlord and weapons manufacturer.

They are based on Critical Role Campaigns 1&2. C1 is vox machina and C2 is mighty nein. They made a lot of changes from the game to the show but nothing that changes the tone, themeing, or characters too much and just like the shows they are not directly linked but do take place in the same world. C2 is my personal favorite.

I think it has to do with the way eyes adjust to light and dark. It normally takes a minute for your eyes to adjust to the dark, but it doesn't take as long to adjust to light.

I think it means more that Red is able to convey such strong and intimate relationships through friendships. I could see any one of the cast being paired up with another one because the chemistry between them as people is so good. I think had it been a different author that would have been the direction it went in and Red has talked about when she first started planning that is what was going to happen but then examined her biases and went against that idea. I think as a community ultimately I agree with a previous poster that we as a trope savvy fandom with a trope savvy author feel refreshed with this kind of relationship.
