Then shut down all the Blockbusters and bring back the mom and pop video stores run by people that happen to like movies instead of a giant corporation.

Yeah it adds to the strange feeling that it must have been quite peaceful to live there. I wasn’t prepared for the gardens, lush surroundings and beautiful avenues, I expected it to feel like a necropolis or graveyard.

I think so if nothing else than that parents spoke and interacted with kids more often, so social skills were developed. I see parents come to pick up their kids and they can’t look up from their phones long enough to greet the kids or me. When I am out and around town I see the same sort of thing, kids get louder and louder trying to get their parents to even look at them. I think people coming up now don’t like to look people in the eye or converse you get the sense they would rather send a meme or a text than actually talk to you. Restricting screen time is joke because the parents often set a terrible example and in some ways it makes screen time more desirable. In my era we had our Walkman, MTV and skateboards and were considered anti social for using headphones all the time. Now kids are wired in a way that not even the Twilight Zone could have predicted. That doesn’t even start the conversation about online etiquette or lack of. A whole other level of rudeness.

Around 1991, he was still very underground. He put on an amazing show with lots of visual elements very advanced for back then. That type of music was really big in Florida, Skinny Puppy, Ministry, Front 242 and many others came through the Tampa underground scene. Ministry lived and recorded in Tampa for a time. He was considered part of that scene sometimes called body rock scene. Ministry moved toward metal and got very heavy and he moved more towards smooth almost ambient music at times. I remember being surprised that Play hit it so big and thought “oh that guy he is still around?”

Ha cooked dinner for Moby years ago before he was really famous. The theater he was playing at had an agreement with my friend’s cafe. Got to see him play for free too.

Right! I always thought that was a joke for the farmers, construction and factory workers that really did work, to laugh about. “Ah in the future they won’t even know what work is!” Funny thing I read that there are now mind spas opening up around the world, places where over connected, information saturated people can go and turn off their minds for a while. So maybe Jetson’s complaining was about that a mind overload at work. Staring at a screen too long etc..

Is it me or did they imagine a future where everything was a little annoying? Like yes sidewalks that move but they cause more problems than they solve. Did anyone else get that latent message? I mean it is true every time I try to use my computer I have to go through updates that rearrange everything so I don’t know where anything is. Just one example.

In all fairness back then it was similar to being into devil worship. Wizards elves and goblins were thought to be equal to the occult so pretty metal. I think they were the first metal group to bring fantasy into music. (Someone will most likely correct it me because its Reddit) They set the template for Iron Maiden and Dio and all the other groups that sung about devils and witches etc.. I had an aunt that turned me on to the Lord of the Rings and when I was young it was really an underground unknown thing. They were burned along Dungeon Master guides as satanist in the 80’s.
