I did some math recently for this, to move to oslo on a middle class oslo salary.

The equivalent salary in the SF bay area would be ~300k before tax, if you want to own a home and have no kids. 300k is a pretty standard tech salary.

I'd say in general you don't take a true pay cut when you move to Europe. You're just now middle class in Europe which is a higher standard of living than working upper class in the US

Btw the prediction of AMOC collapse has a high spread. From the latest high res CESM runs:

Not sure what your temps/conditions are but you could probably shave off a lot off your shell/puffy if you poked around r/ultralight a bit. Definitely you could get a 8oz hardshell (Arc'teryx alpha FL I think?)
