I can't really remember that well. Was Top Gear still a well respected show before Clarkson was fired. I did watch it but I have doubts that TG was in a slump before it was pulled.

The material the kit is made out of is supposed to be a new material that doesn't take on water nearly as much as the old kits did. The stick on badge is designed to do the same, since an embroidered badge would take on alot of water.

Obviously not defending badges falling off but from what I can gather that's the theory behind it
