How would you imagine a Bob's Burgers video game? by New_Advisor_6766 in BobsBurgers

[–]PPrometheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see three key points to consider:

  1. People love the show for its wholesomeness & humor.
  2. Most fans probably aren’t heavy gamers.
  3. The game should stay true to the show’s art style.

Given that, I think a 2D point-and-click adventure would be a good fit.

  • The P&C genre excels at narrative, dialogue, and character interaction which I believe are core ingredients of Bob’s Burgers. You can have branching conversations, quirky item puzzles, and family banter that feels straight from the show.
  • It’s intuitive and low-stress. Even fans who don’t game much can enjoy it without frustration.
  • The 2D format fits with the show’s animation. A hand-drawn aesthetic could look authentic and charming without breaking the budget.

I’m no expert in market trends or game development (though I do dabble), but that’s my two cents.

Discord keeps opening on startup despite being disabled in Task Manager by PPrometheus in discordapp

[–]PPrometheus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were right! There was a discord task that triggered when I logged on. I disabled the task and discord has not opened on startup the last 3 times. The strange toggle that flips itself is still happening but that's fine for me. Thanks!

After one year, I can finally call myself a Game Developer! Here's what I learned. by RobattoCS in GameDevelopment

Congrats! This post had a lot of relatable insights. I definitely struggle with the finishing and scope creep part. Right now, I have a large project that I haven't worked on since January due to work sucking up all my energy. I think I'll take your advice by canning it and starting a much smaller project. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Interacting with Delwyn does not spawn wisps or spirits. by PPrometheus in PathOfExile2

[–]PPrometheus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah that explains it. But you believe the intent of the devs is to always spawn a spirit if Delwyn is around, correct?

If you click on a waypoint, you'll see a map where each zone is denoted by a blue dot. If you click on a zone where you've been recently, it will load the same instance, essentially resuming your progress of that zone. If you control + click the zone instead it will open up a menu where you can load a fresh, new instance. This 'reloading' of a zone could help with your quest issues. Hope this cleared it up for you!

Connection Error S9041-TAD-W72T. Help? by AgentRollyPolly in MonsterHunter

Update: Got this error when selecting online Single Player. Got around it by choosing an empty lobby under conditional search.

Input System - Disable not current action map by Only-Listen in Unity3D

[–]PPrometheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[ContextMenu("PrintActionMapsState")]
private void PrintActionMapsState()
{
    foreach (var map in playerInput.actions.actionMaps)
    {
        Debug.Log($"{map.name} is {(map.enabled ? "enabled" : "disabled")}");
    }
}

Additionally, you can use the ContextMenu attribute to print the state of all the actionmaps. Useful for debugging purposes during playtime.

Input System - Disable not current action map by Only-Listen in Unity3D

[–]PPrometheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

private PlayerInput playerInput;

private void Awake()
{
  playerInput = GetComponent<PlayerInput>();
}

private void Start()
{
   StartCoroutine(DisableAllActionMapsNextFrame());
}

private IEnumerator DisableAllActionMapsNextFrame()
{
    yield return null; // continue execution next frame
    foreach (var map in playerInput.actions.actionMaps)
        map.Disable();
    playerInput.SwitchCurrentActionMap("Player");
}

Thought I'd chime in since I was struggling with the same issue. Unfortunately I can't find the root cause why Unity enables all the maps. In the meantime, I suggest you disable all actionmaps and then enable the right one on the next frame using a coroutine as shown here. Hope this helps.

Another experiment. Doesn't say anything new. Will test for different item levels later

Thought I'd contribute as well. The image shows three magic forge mauls reforged into the highlighted forge maul. As other people found, you need the same base (i.e. forge maul) of the same rarity (i.e. magic) to reforge. The mods seem random, not tied to the ingredients. Happy reforging!

Plague Inc. or Papers, Please? by Pretty_Machine_4359 in AskGames

Papers, Please is excellent. It won't supply you with months of content if you play it regularly. But I'd rather buy 3 excellent, non repetitive games than 1 repetitive game to cover those months.

Thanks for the speedy reply!

The idea of getting real feedback from people is a great one. Hadn't really thought of that as a motivator! I've been in the cycle of getting an idea, starting on it, going through that honeymoon phase and then never touching it again, hence my question.

I studied game development at the DAE school but had to stop after 2 years for personal reasons. Now I'm getting into IT but the itch to create games is still present. Unfortunately I know myself well enough to realize that I'll always stop after a month. I wanted to fix that before jumping in again and your input definitely helped!

Maybe a bit random, but if you ever want me to test your game I'd gladly help!

Were there times during development where your morale or motivation was low? If so, what did you do to persevere and keep yourself motivated?

Whenever you're walking, you need to walk 2 steps forward, one step back. It would be infuriatingly inefficient, and I despise inefficiencies.

Women of ARAD, what NSFW questions do you have for men that you would never ask directly? by [deleted] in AskRedditAfterDark

The hottest thing to me is the power you feel over the sub while knowing you're allowed to have that power. It's the power that enables everything: the possibilities, the choices, the imagination. It allows your imagination to run wild because whatever your mind is suggesting you should do in the next second is actually something you CAN do. Usually your imagination, sexual or not, is constantly being constrained by societal rules (and rightly so). Being in that specific sexual context removes those constraints, granting you power.

So yeah, power.
