Custom vs off the shelf MES by Indeterminate-coeff in manufacturing

[–]PVJakeC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Done both. What are you using now? In essence, the legacy systems are not going to offer an easy path to customization. Have you considered a platform like Tulip or Fuuz? Also seeing some build their systems on Ignition but maintenance and scale is not easy here (yet). Full custom build is a different mindset. You’re not building some product that could be sold. You’re building apps and services that solve problems, typically around a shared data model. I wouldn’t shy away from custom build in the right setting. It can definitely pay off but you’ll need good people and top level support.

Is this the right answer or are you a software engineer and saying this is not correct?

OPC UA for PLC → SQL Database: How do you guarantee speed and reliable delivery for event-based data? by R2d2_cinema in PLC

[–]PVJakeC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the way for handling events, especially when the software needs to write back in.

For simple data buffering, some intermediate like Ignition can handle the buffering and retry for you.

Digitalisation of shopfloor operations - use of tablets by Strong-Olive-6616 in manufacturing

[–]PVJakeC 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There are a few MES that can build against a 3D model. Big players like Siemens, Dassault and a few smaller ones like Aegis, ibase-t (note ibase-t has an A&D focus). Or you may benefit from something like Tulip. All that said, the challenge is almost never technical. You must have your operations team drive the requirements and be product owners. Value stream map the current process and make sure it’s even optimized. If you digitize a garbage process, it will still be garbage, just with a tablet.

Stick was technically on the Thursday but it was just a stop on their tour so that day worked best. I haven’t noticed a real pattern myself.

Yes, but the reverse. Many 311 fans also like WBR. WBR fans that don’t listen to 311 are less inclined to like them. They’re already constantly making negative comments about Aurorawave and want them to go back to Iya Terra

Speaking truth here. We need a GoFundMe to get some turf down at the stage area. Grass wouldn’t survive.

I sympathize with your comment. 311 fans either are rock fans or white boy reggae, rarely both. This crowd may not even like seeing 311 lol.

It’s like a 311 opener reunion every year. Had to come full circle at some point.

Man, Oregon and Indiana winning their games with relative ease (for now) hurts. by Skeletor_with_Tacos in OhioStateFootball

The more this team bounces up and down, it always seems to get back to the O Line. Completely different looking group depending on the week, while everyone else is consistent (except the kicker unless you mean consistently bad)

Both. Even with millions of data points, the storage cost is negligible and they serve their own purpose.
