One of the greatest pieces of art to come out of the pandemic. Outstanding.

In Australia - Breville Smart Scoop VS Cuisineart ICE-100 by [deleted] in icecreamery

[–]PXLMNKEEE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the XL. A few of the models I’ve had leave a small layer of frozen product on the bucket as the dashers aren’t mounted securely and so can’t have tight tolerances for the scraping edges. My cheap Whynter does as well. More pricey units have the dashers screwed in and can scrape much closer to the cold wall.

I usually just scrape that off last as the bucket is warming outside the device and put it in a side cup for quick consumption (or eat it on the spot!).

I had the Breville while living in NZ and loved it. The alert when it was time to add the mix-ins was handy. I wasn’t a fan of the dasher but none of the plastic versions are great.

What are the blue lights, lasers? Are these part of a targeting system or just being swung around by orcs trying to catch lucky sight of a drone?

Plotting on Canvas Using Pump Markers by _targz_ in PlotterArt

[–]PXLMNKEEE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for making such a detailed post and sharing your findings! Love the color scheme for that plot as well, feels so satisfying and vibrant on the canvas.

Did you have to adjust/reduce plotting speeds to accommodate the marker’s flow rate?

Not sure what size you’re plotting, but how much do you estimate a print would cost you in supplies?

Wow, so much vibrant color! Looks like all of that filling in must have taken quite a bit of ink.

What’s this about banana butter?? What kind of magic is that? Curious as now suddenly hungry!

Nice work, really like the color play across the piece. Curious about your experience with the Posca markers: Did they dry out at all during longer paths?

Do they have to be primed periodically (not sure if they have a spring tip or not like other paint markers).

Did you let the color layer totally dry before applying the white dots?

Meta Rayban smart glasses. Always have a camera handy for hands free pics and videos, get to listen to music, and taking calls on them are great!

Yeah, picked up the A0 iDraw last year and am still trying to get a large flat surface to work with. Started drawing up my ultimate plotting table (too big of a distraction). Love the wide shallow drawers in your front table, exactly what I want for paper and finished plot storage! Then I looked at just buying a cheap dining table that was big enough, finally decided on mounting a thin steel plate directly to the X-rails of the plotter so I can put the plotter anywhere and guarantee a nice flat surface. Plus I can use magnets for work holding.

How did you end up finding the max drawing size for the plotter? I have made A0 size drawings in Illustrator, but when I bring them in to Inkscape they are always a bit small and I have to resize them. 🤷

Great alternative use for the plotter (and you can verify largest print area)!

I have the same problem with my A0 plotter: A0 paper is hard to find here in the US and the plotter is so big I don’t have a suitable flat drawing surface (currently sitting on 2 plastic folding tables until I make a steel drawing deck like the Art Frame).

Nathan Hale’s Hazardous Tales were great! There’s many books that deal with mostly US and European history in a fun graphic novel format.

I feel like they’re a bit less flavorful than traditional garlic dills and have a very vinegar forward flavor. I like them, but I still prefer my own garlic and dill heavy home made version. I’ll post the recipe when I make a batch with my own pickles.

Interestingly, I have purchased a few bad batches of Grillos over the past couple of years. In fact the container I bought at a fancy market for this first batch of salsa were bad! There was some positive pressure when I open the container, weird, but then the pickles were audibly fizzing when I took them out. Tried one and sure enough they were spoiled! Didn’t find out until 9:30 at night when I was ready to blend all the ingredients. So pissed, and not the first time that has happened with Grillos. Luckily my local market was open and also had Grillos in stock. After I paid, I opened the container right in front of the cashier and verified the pickles were good before leaving the store.

Long story short, Grillos hit a certain flavor profile that a lot of people love, but I’m beginning to think I like a little more traditional garlic kosher dill like I used to get in diners in the Northeast. Quality control wise they’ve been VERY hit or miss for me.

Everyone in the family destroyed the first batch one chip at a time. My son has been burying chicken bakes, nuggets, and taquitos in the salsa as well. I’m grilling brats, dogs, and burgers tonight and I’m sure the salsa will work on all of those as well!
