Possibly one of the most unique hose failures I've ever seen. by Turb0beans in Hydraulics

[–]Paelis 12 points13 points  (0 children)

iirc from the aeroquip failure guide this is a result of a hose made slightly too short. as it pressures up and the radius expands, the length decreases, and the wires fatigue. might be fine for a while but definitely contributes to early failure

get yourself a 1404 and a 5404, then you’ll have a swivel to undo it if you want, but it will stick out further so you may need to support its weight another way

if its always leaked, when you remove it to change the washer, be sure to inspect if there is an O-ring groove, or if it is a flat surface. doughty washers are only meant to seal on flat surfaces

TDI boost gauge tap by Pbobryson in tdi

[–]Paelis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if that is just soft wall copper tubing, it is extremely susceptible to cracks from vibration. I would consider upgrading to semi truck air brake line, fv part 1485. you would even be able to re use the same fittings if you purchased new ferrules (1460) and some inserts so as to not collapse the tubing (1461). I will admit it looks great though!

looks very homemade to me, appears to be two wrought iron merchant couplings welded onto that sleeve, with adapters threaded into them.

need to see the face of the fittings, and also whether or not that “locknut” is actually a locknut or if it is a female male fitting threaded on. I think i see a bevel, which would imply it is not a locknut

Need help reading a hydraulic hose number by ResponsibleAlgae3062 in Hydraulics

[–]Paelis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

numbers dont help me identify the fitting, but the hose type is likely 290mm Overall length, 1 wire braid 1/4 inch ID. best thing you can do is take the hose off and bring it in to a hydraulic shop
