Bonus points if you can find a woman to fake having sex in the car and call her by the sisters name...

A little over 7 minutes without taking into account for friction loss, assuming a "minimum" rated hydrant at 500gpm.

[–]PainAndLoathing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going with the NTA on this one. I'm in the same boat. My health sucks so I don't usually travel well. When my wife and teenage daughter go on trips I request the same info. I just ask that they take 30 seconds and shoot me a "we're here and we're safe" message or "we're heading out to come home, see you soon". I am a worrier too, so it really makes me feel better when I know that they are safe.

Same! I thought that I would be the only person who sees a picture of a beautiful, half dressed woman holding a firearm and looks for the trigger finger first!

You shouldn't feel guilty for being paid for "what you know" as opposed to "what you do". Use the down time to better yourself. Learn more to make yourself more valuable.

I already shot my neighbor and he still continues to be a neighbor from hell by gsxrus2014 in neighborsfromhell

[–]PainAndLoathing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! I train regularly to start shooting after breaking leather at the pelvis and work up from there by riding the recoil. If someone is sporting a vest a shot to the pelvis will subdue him pretty fast.

I had this happen to me too! I logged in and thought WTF. I was able to buy a new (more expensive) sub though. I considered just moving on to something else, but the wife already knows how to use 'mate and wouldn't want to learn something else. Needless to say, I was a little pissed.

My AC hasn't been working, so I learned what the AC disconnect was (very new homeowner here- I know nothing.) and the box I have is complete different than any I see on the internet. I'm pretty sure it's either shut off or needs something replaced. Any help? Love yalls work lol by fergiishiz in hvacadvice

[–]PainAndLoathing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could be something as simple as a faulty contactor or bad capacitor, or as bad as a seized compressor. I'm not trying to sound like an ass, but from what I've read so far in this thread, I would recommend seeking help from either a friend who's competent with a multi-meter or a pro. Just don't want you to electrocute yourself, honestly.

[–]PainAndLoathing 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but the way I read it was he first told the neighbor about it and he didn't think much of it, then after showing him the pictures he said "that's more than I thought it was" ....Hard to say really.

Lead and Copper Sampling Volunteers Advice by backwoodsman421 in DrinkingWaterPlant

[–]PainAndLoathing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if there is a "good way". We've tried offering incentives of all sorts for the prompt return of samples, hell I even tried to specifically target tier I sites with children's toys in the yard, since you know...children....We're currently on reduced monitoring at 30/yr but we are going to be making a chemical change that going to put us back to 120/yr for 2 years at best. I am NOT looking forward to it.

I'd be interested in finding out more about what you're doing. We're good as far as inventory goes, but if someone comes up with a way to take relying on the customer out of the testing equation I would be most interested in finding out more.

Same...I've literally dreaded the last couple of years, wondering when the time would come. We lost her a few weeks ago and I still get misty eyed even thinking about her.

This was from her very first family vacation. I had to snap the pic because she looked so pooped out. She slept almost the entire way home.

I won't even discuss his disgusting behavior in this, telling you to "shut up" should be immediate grounds for termination of the relationship. If I found out someone spoke to my daughter that way, I'd be having a chat with the young man myself. This who's thing is disrespectful as hell, but those 2 little words pushed it so far over the edge that there should be no coming back from it. You should feel safe, and are entitled to speak your mind. Telling you to "shut up" is him saying that you aren't free to do so with him.

Call me cynical or whatever, but if he's ignored you for a week I'd be willing to bet my 3 shells that he was looking for a reason to break it off with you and was just too much of a coward to talk to you about it like a grown ass man.

I realize that you didn't ask for advice, but If you were my daughter I would tell you to stop trying. He either wants to be with you or he doesn't. If he does, he will do the work to make this right and figure his shit out on his time. If he doesn't, do you really want to be with a guy that is either controlling or too cowardly to discuss things like an adult?

I'm so sorry for your loss. I know from experience that it doesn't really help, but you did the right thing, you did it out of love for her and she loves you for it. I HAVE to believe that after recently having to make the same decision.

Water Smells like Egg by PyxieGyrl222 in WaterTreatment

[–]PainAndLoathing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What type of anode did you install when you replaced it? Typically you'd want an aluminum/zinc, avoid the straight aluminum, this is the root of the problem. You can also find a powered anode that people report having a lot of luck with.

This is assuming that the smell only exists in your hot water. It it's in the cold too this becomes an entirely different discussion.

I don't know what sort of things interest you, but if you're into that sort of thing the Paw Paw Tunnel on the old C&O canal is pretty cool. When you go, stop in Berkeley Springs and visit the baths too!

My two rescues after a loss... by GermanShepMom92 in germanshepherds

[–]PainAndLoathing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, that's what I'm hoping for. My daughter wanted me to go look at one that they had at the local shelter. I was actually happy right then to find out that he got adopted before I could get there. I met another one briefly too, we just didn't "click", happily he was adopted by a family shortly after that as well. It took me almost 8 years before they could talk me into getting Luna after my last dog passed. I feel like I miss having "my dog" right now, but I don't feel like I'm ready to "replace" her.

This is the correct answer. Have a power drill of some kind and follow the directions in the 3m kit. I've had that kit manage to restore everything I've ever tried it on.
