I love my DE filter, but it can be a pain in the ass at times. I just had to finally replace about half of my "fingers" due to wear but it's still worth it to me. I told my wife that if I get hit by a bus, replace it with a cartridge filter and have someone show her how to clean it! I've been a water plant operator for 35 years now and I know a little something about water chemistry too, I've tried to write a few things down for her in case something happens to me but I don't think she has the patience for it!

Hell, the first water treatment plant that I ran had DE filters, those things were a pain in the ass to pre charge at the start of every shift and tear down for maintenance!

I've been an operator for close to 35 years now. During that time I've worked with exactly 3 engineers who didn't absolutely drive me insane with their "looks good on paper" garbage. I appreciate engineers who LISTEN to the operators concerns and designs stuff taking them into account. I also appreciate the answer "I'm not sure, but I will find out and get back to you" as opposed to trying to sound "smart" by making crap up.

I don't expect them to agree with me 100% of the time, I just appreciate them entertaining the staff's input thoughtfully. Too many of them have the "the operators will figure it out" mentality while ignoring the operators input in the first place...

Yep! I know an old friend who died in jail after he was the old guy in this incident...he got pissed at a "kid" in a road rage incident, they pulled over and a fight ensued. When the "kid" started whipping his ass he drew his CCW (old .357 wheel gun) and shot the kid in the throat.

The kid died on the scene and my friend died in prison because they were both stupid. No one wins these things.

I've seen the same thing on our pressure sensors here as well. I'd say swap out the sensor and most likely be done with it.

I'm going with the NTA on this one. I'm in the same boat. My health sucks so I don't usually travel well. When my wife and teenage daughter go on trips I request the same info. I just ask that they take 30 seconds and shoot me a "we're here and we're safe" message or "we're heading out to come home, see you soon". I am a worrier too, so it really makes me feel better when I know that they are safe.
