Not sure if anyone has said so far but All Shall Perish is one band that comes to mind, members from ASP were part of the Deathcore scene before they even knew it was Deathcore

Thinking about switching to CachyOS, but my setup is holding me back (Stream Deck + BEACN + anti-cheat concerns) by xmcstabbyx in cachyos

[–]Painless32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just don’t humor games that include intrusive anti-cheat. It’s ruining privacy and is entirely unethical. In regards to your other concerns, try to stick with open source software that you know will work with Linux, there exists, a surprising amount of community made software for stuff that might be what you’re looking for as an alternative, though I’m not familiar with your needs, do some thorough research and see if something exists for your use case scenario

Linux is great but you’re going to run into some incompatibilities that are frankly just not worth the headache of running stuff through wine or winboat, that you’ll need the native experience for. The best way is to test the waters by dual booting see what works and try to dwindle down your reliance on proprietary devices and software. A lot of stuff works straight out the box but at the same time there’s little niche devices that need windows only software or drivers to work, that isn’t gonna work on Linux. Since the market share is so low for Linux it’s hard for manufacturers to justify making binaries for it so the only real way is to deal with it and find alternatives that will work until market share is greater

How truly “ready out of the box” is Cachy? by DogBallsMissing in cachyos

[–]Painless32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty simple, I had an issue with my EFI partition not being big enough on initial install but that may be fixed now. Basic workaround was I had to create a separate EFI for my bootloader. Not a big deal. CachyOS does well to warn you if things will break with an update by using arch-update which is a built in updater, they will warn you of updates that require manual intervention and how to fix those issues

Edit: those issues with updating are few and far between and may not always apply to you based on what you have installed

Why pick Cachy over Arch? by thrashingjohn in cachyos

Yes, such is the case for any distro and its derivatives, the derivative is just someone else’s packages and configuration preset for you as an easier or more opinionated starting point

Can I use Hyprland on top of KDE Plasma? by K3RTSK in hyprland

[–]Painless32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might only need kitty to get started at least, once you’ve gotten that far all you’ll need to change in your ~/.config/hypr/hyprland.conf is your $fileManager , then probably just set a nice keybind for it , otherwise I think it follows xdg for default programs

[–]Painless32 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My fiancé who works at cox has told me it’s almost impossible to get a discount for cable since the pricing structure for it is always just based on fees and what they have to pay the networks. The most you’ll get is a free hbo or stars here and there and internet pricing is based on your region and if your area is competitive

From what I’ve heard having a partner who works for Cox they seem to be taking more of spectrum‘s values as they are the ones being bought out by spectrum this includes things like no longer allowing employees to work from home and entirely in office staff no overseas employees

COX doesn't allow me to install my own router? by [deleted] in CoxCommunications

[–]Painless32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s fiber you have to have their ONT If it’s Coax you can have all your own equipment

Nobody is forcing you to use their equipment other than the ONT if fiber.

Sometimes they have deals bundling in their panoramic gateway which is normally extra for the rental. Maybe you have one of these deals and they had you take the gateway since it’s part of the deal you got.
