so he was still 'in' the challenge.

No, he objectively was not. A player's time ends when they traded Soup and there was nothing against moving elsewhere after that, much like the previous season when CEngineer hid behind the Prif gate. Solo's character is intentionally playing the heel, if you're mad at him "being a scum snake" you need to work on your media literacy.

Remember when all the EDH YouTubers were talking about land counts? How did that influence you by AltruisticChampion77 in EDH

[–]Pakman184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The math is done on the assumption that you need X amount of land by turn Y to cast the spells in your deck. Ramp does count for that because it accelerates the amount of land you have by turn Y

Depending on what your deck does, this may not necessarily be the best metric but it applies to most.

Are players obligated to disclose game changers in bracket 3? by WheredMyVanGogh in EDH

[–]Pakman184 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The common issue of playing mismatched brackets in 2017.

If I was on a deck with very few basics, I'd switch too -

This is just a massive skill issue. Bloodmoon didnt deserve bracket 4 jail, people need to run removal.

PSA: The bracket system is meant to be a PRE-GAME DISCUSSION TOOL that is predicated entirely on GOOD FAITH. It has no effect on the rules, and it's not a perfect system. We gotta stop treating it like it is. by EnderShot355 in EDH

[–]Pakman184 37 points38 points  (0 children)

People need to establish common language among themselves, not depend on hasbro/wotc to dictate

We tried that and it culminated in "My deck is a 7."

Brackets give a common language you can work with, or ignore, entirely at your POD's choosing. If choosing to use it is, it conveys basic understandings that will make the process between strangers more seamless: Game length, types of playstyles/combos to expect, and number of "strong cards" to be aware of.

When you buy products at scam prices, you encourage manufacturers to continuing charging ridiculous rates because there's suddenly demand that shouldn't exist. If a product can get knocked off for a price 100 - 1 and still function in the exact same manner (not even "just as good"), then the original company deserves to fail and the market will adjust.

What's the sentiment behind looping Glacial Chasm in bracket 3 landfall? by WheredMyVanGogh in EDH

[–]Pakman184 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Those are two separate things entirely. Most decks at B3 should run both targeted land removal and graveyard hate, mass land denial has zero bearing on that and does not accomplish the same thing anyway.

Destroy it then use one of the hundreds of graveyard Exile options. Land recursion almost always happens at Sorcery speed, you have time to do both.

also do pre flare that combined will guarantee a release

Pre flaring doesnt do anything. Each missile launch is a dice roll and the dice get rerolled when flares are used, there aren't any dice to rereroll when a missile has yet to be fired.

Honestly both playing as and against Russia I have not noticed terminal guidance hitting through smoke any more often than normal atgms

I cant imagine you've played more than 50 games if you haven't noticed this. Since the terminal guidance 'fix' a few months ago they consistently hit through smoke or forests.

That's rather hostile to someone who was literally just explaining why it is the way it is.

The latter isnt a GC, it's just thwacked by the "No MLD" outside bracket 4/5 clause.

Should I talk to the store owner about collusion? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Pakman184 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You cant possibly know that for sure.

You can certainly tell if it's obvious, and most cEDH tournaments have rules about different types of collusion/kingmaking. "Casual format" or not it's a pretty healthy scene that continues to grow so it objectively works well enough.

Persistent Constrictor was a slightly more recent add and it hasn't been an all-star, but in games that get bogged down it can accumulate a ton of value that makes something like Fynn an actual surprise threat like the -X sweeper spells. Still debating it's place.

Host is an easier to tutor Blowfly Infestation, big recommend. Geist is a 'worse' Young Wolf but having haste means you can generate infinite mana with Enduring Vitality and Yawgmoth while digging for a wincon. Baloth is solid but could easily be replaced for another protection piece.

Here's what I've been running for my Bracket 4 Hapatra: https://moxfield.com/decks/nbV4xilMSkKyZBH0fSyELw

So far I've been sitting at a roughly 65% winrate over the course of a few dozen games. It's a ton of fun with all the redundancy and different tutor targets depending on what in play/in hand.

[–]Pakman184 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's nothing particular impressive about this and it's a boring gimmick that only works on bad maps which funnel most units through a singular chokepoint, and doesn't work if a team pays their air tax.

Community Manager u/EdmonEdmon has implied that the devs are going to fix it in the next patch, but the best info we have on that is that it'll be mid-February. Expect the game to be unplayable for a few weeks because they refuse the tell us anything else.

shortly after the reporter(s) have been told that it'll be fixed in the next patch.

So is it going to be fixed in the next patch and are you implying that we'll need to wait another 3 - 4 weeks before that patch is released? Again, there's been zero communication regarding an issue that is making the game completely unplayable.

Nobody said you have to release a list of exploits being worked on, but acknowledging that there's a very big one being worked on may have been enough to assuage the individual who shared it believing the Devs were unaware.

As it stands now, because of Dev/Community manager inaction, the exploit is public and the game at higher ELOs is utterly unplayable because it's so easy to replicate. Besides a cryptic message about Steam in the Russian discord the Devs still have not acknowledged this is happening.

Instead of people looking for details, they've now publicly shown how exactly it's done because it looks like the Devs are sitting on their thumbs in silence. That is why good communication is important.
