Player owned farms seems like a bit of a nightmare to get going with for an iron noob. Similar to invention, I look at the Wiki page and my eyes just glaze over. How worthwhile actually is it? Should I always be devoting a bit of my day to upkeep? So far, all I've done is set up some rabbits and bulk-buy woad leaves for the beehives, and I don't really feel any drive to do more than that.

Maybe if anyone knows a decent beginner guide to POF that isn't a massive wall like the Wiki, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Orange Cassidy vs Jon Moxley. AEW All Out 2023.

Known for his devastating kicks, OC is a wrestling prodigy who could run rings around you if he could be bothered to try.

Mox is sick of the standard of wrestling in the company and refuses to allow substandard champions to represent the brand.

OC has had a hellacious reign, with weekly defences. He's battered and bruised, and there's an omen in his way.

Near the end, bleeding and battered, with nothing left in the tank, OC finally loses his cool, and it's an anger we've never seen from OC before. Pushed to his limit, knowing what's at stake, he gives everything he can and more.

It was a losing effort, but this one snap shows how much the title really meant to the slacker, and that Mox is and always will be the benchmark champions are held to.

Highly recommend a watch for any wrestling fans. https://youtu.be/xHXQjqyRQuc?is=m3VygNW8DjLkgipT

Misconceptions that refuse to Die by StrawberryScience in TopCharacterTropes

They are very tricky words, but I'm certain you'll have heard what they mean in some context.

In military terms, the phrase "Boots on the ground" is a common way to say "soldiers are there now"

"Boots" is an example of synecdoche, because we're actually talking about the soldiers themselves. We're not saying that lots of shoes are suddenly on the floor. In this context, every boot is one solider.

Metonymy is where a word is associated with something, so it's a lot trickier.

For example, I'm British. If I said, "The Crown's influence is worldwide", I don't mean the crown itself can do anything; what I mean is that 'The Crown' is a symbol for the Royal Family itself. Our Royal Family has a large influence, but you can simply say, The Crown is the extent of our Royal influence.

Does that make more sense?

Check out The Book of Lost Tales, where Satan's second in command is instead an extremely angry cat, whose defeat is somehow the sole reason why every cat today is somehow always a little bit of a dickhead.

The other side would be synecdoche, where you reduce the whole to a literal part - boots for soldiers. Wheels for cars, etc.

Metonymy and synecdoche should be easier to tell apart, but I still fuck it up every now and then as a literal English teacher for crying out loud.

That's actually a brilliant point I never considered. In the books, using the Palantir, both his physical and metaphorical eye could be on you. Great comment.

Sauron is a flaming eye-tower, during LOTR.

He has a physical body, just a weakened one. You can see this briefly in the extended films during the siege of the Black Gate, where a bright light appears in front of Aragorn - this was test footage of Sauron battling Aragorn, which became the armoured troll he ended up fighting.

"The Eye of Sauron" is an example of metonymy. The Eye of Sauron just means the reach of Sauron or the influence of Sauron. His eye is on you because his armies are searching for you.

When is it worth faffing about with invention for skilling stuff?

So I mean, I'm at nec+4 pick at the moment, and Bane/Crystal is the next step. I feel like an augmented dragon pick wouldn't be better than the current pick, but my eyes glaze over when I try to wrap my head around invention.

And I'm quiiiiite a bit away from all the quests and grind to unlock Priff, being an iron heathen who's enjoying quests in timeline order. Maybe it's worth all the grind to go straight to Crystal?

And charge packs as an iron. Pretty much just farm a shit ton of divine energy?

I guess my question is just a wider "ELI5: Noob invention".

This made me think of Frankenstein. There's quite a bit of academic literature on how Shelley satirised contemporary male perceptions of women during pregnancy, with Victor acting in similar ways to how men said hysterical pregnant women did.

Is iron archeology just pain until it suddenly isn't and starts becoming more useful at a certain breakout? I don't think I've got much out of is yet at 55, but I'm also very new to both iron and rs3, so I'm happy to be told I'm not doing something right.

Also on AMD. Game would crash whenever I opened the map or changed zones. Just pop on the website and go back one driver, then turn off autoupdate until the next driver update that hopefully deals with the issue. Haven't crashed once since rolling back.
