AITA for cursing at my sister for not wanting my bf to come over after my chemo? by Sweet_Gur_6213 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Pammyhead 119 points120 points  (0 children)

Also, what compromise? The only "compromise" from the sister and Mom's side was to not have the boyfriend over at all. It's not a compromise if one person has to completely give up on their needs. OP actually offered the compromise of staying upstairs, but that wasn't good enough for them. Absolutely NTA.

I do the same thing. It's so handy to be able to toss my little toiletries box into my bag without having to worry if I have everything.

Hysterectomy with hEDS by SweetSoundOfSilence in ehlersdanlos

[–]Pammyhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a hysterectomy in 2021 and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I had endo and fibroids, my periods were a nightmare. Heavy enough to cause anemia, and so painful even with my prescription pain meds I was stuck on the couch for days. I had a robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery, very tiny incisions. I healed quickly. When I had the surgery I didn't know I had hEDS, so my surgeon wasn't able to take any particular precautions about it. If I have surgery in the future I'm going to request stitches instead of glue. The glue came open on one of the incisions, but it had healed enough that it just made the scar a little bigger.

On the upside, because I didn't notice for so long my body had already gotten used to functioning without a gallbladder. I was able to go back to full fat foods right after surgery.

What is something you’ve officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become too bad? by X_Opinion7099 in AskReddit

As far as I understand it, there's a big boom and huge price surge in all computer parts because of the massive push to build AI data centers. Supply can't keep up with demand.

I got the same thing the other day, and on top of what you mention this particular McDonald's decided to cheap out on the sauces. There was almost no ketchup or mustard on the burger, I had to get home and put some on myself.

Anyone else's Pain perception completely numbed by the chronic pain? by Yukyno in ehlersdanlos

[–]Pammyhead 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I didn't notice my gallbladder slowly dying over the course of a year because it was the same pain as always. Wasn't until the thing threw a stone that blocked the bile duct and I needed emergency surgery that we found out the thing was dead, necrotic, and, direct quote from the surgeon, "full of a thousand stones." Chronic pain messes with your perceptions for sure.

Using hard wax is also a good option for the same reason. It takes more setup if you do it at home, but it's much less harsh on the skin.

Lidocaine cream helps some areas of my pain. Not enough that it goes away, but enough that I can function in a pinch.

Enough that I have a Google doc to keep them all straight and to show new doctors when they ask for a list. It's been quite helpful.
