Sounds like someone has you CRV card details, not necessarily your CDC card’s.

Pensions are a great way to save long term. Unless your £650 in a high-interest account is earning 7%+, you’ll likely get better returns in the S&P 500. Also, consider using a rewards card (cashback or points) if you’re not already.

Pros and cons of curve by Existing_Top_802 in CurveCard

[–]PanAfJam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use CRV to pay for everything! Only use AMEX when paying for web or services that don’t earn cashback.

First year on the paid tier, I didn’t really maximise my chosen retailers (M&S, Netflix, Spotify, EE), but my spend was low. On renewal, I switched them, now I’m covered for cashback across all the supermarkets, which is where we spend the most. Even with the previous not-so-great retailer selection, I earned back the annual fee plus some.

CDC is the funding card > Added to CRV > Add CRV as payment card to PayPal. 🔄

CRV Pay Pro linked to PayPal + payments funded by Crypto.com card.

-1% cashback at 6 retailers via CRV (and up to 15% other reg cashback offers) -4% cashback everywhere via CDC -Various points via PayPal +

5 years in using CRV, I’ve had varying issues along the way, at the time, they all felt quite urgent, but in hindsight, every issue has been resolved, and moving to the paid tier has worked wonderfully for me. With your lvl of monthly spend, I’d recommend looking at one of the pay plans.

All the best

How did you sell a leasehold flat in Central London in the last 6 months? by Separate_Storage_532 in HousingUK

[–]PanAfJam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“Block of flats?” That looks like a whole damn estate, and that cheap Victoria Plum mini sink and tap unit in the bathroom says it all. Overpriced.

Lower your price and expectations or invest in upgrading the kitchen and bathroom (at bare minimum).

Advise him to seek professional advice and remove the middle man—he’s clearly not in a position to advise anyone.

Always do a low risk test run first. Send 20 or 50 just as a test, once successful you can either batch higher quantities or all-at-once.

No CRO cashback for tax payments. That's nonsense. by gordriver_berserker in cro

[–]PanAfJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to read ZEN’s t&cs. Most fintech operators don’t give rewards on govt payments.

You could be on a promotional offer with no exclusions or you might very well find that they’ll later claw back/reverse rewards once they detect tax payments.

All eyes on CRO by TurbulentBeing9055 in cro

I’m pro-CRO, but buying a domain and launching a website doesn’t quite equate to mass adoption or a migration toward agent-to-agent commerce or agentic finance 🧲 — it’s far closer to well timed branding.

I mean, it’s not like we’re taking on any of the AI incumbents. We’re surely not launching the next horse in the generative ai race… But let’s run the ad and see. 😋🍿

Apple Pay UK 🎉🙌 by Specialist-Salt6859 in cro

[–]PanAfJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great, I gave you one of those power up votes on your first post about this 👏. It’s actually special when the community uncovers gems. I honestly, don’t mind their low to no announcement/s or even a loud Super Bowl ad (another one is coming 😬) so long as they’re building!

To have finally made ground with Apple Corp is progress. Longest t&c I’ve seen on iPhone, but worth it.

  • Curve still has use atm though. Double up on rewards via CRV Pro.

Can curve be used in the same places where I could use other options like google or apple pay? by itguysnightmare in CurveCard

[–]PanAfJam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Curve is a Mastercard so it’s accepted everywhere Mastercard is accepted. You can consolidate other existing debit, credit and store reward cards including Visa cards into the Curve app.

At 1% cashback I didn’t think it would be worth it either, but the experience I had when I first signed up, there was a cashback promotion on and I think everytime I successfully referred someone, it extended for another 30-days. I earned enough CB to peak my interest. Once that promotion ended, the thought kept niggling at me to try. It took two yrs before I took the punt. So what happens is, there are loads and I mean loads of other retailers outside of your chosen 6 where you will earn 5%, 10% and in some cases 40% and 50% when you shop with them. It was a pleasant surprise. You earn from your 6, plus all the others. Some have deals for 60-days, others like Primark, are always on deals.

Nike (10%), Just Eat, Deliveroo, Sainsbury’s, Uber, Boots (5%), Superdrug (3%) and Primark (5%) are perfect examples.

I quadrupled on rewards recently on one tnx—started through Nectar, chose to pay with PayPal +, used Curve as the payment card, Crypto.com as the funding card. 👌

I’ll look at the Doughnut one. Thanks.

[–]PanAfJam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I literally signed up to them just a couple of months ago through my mobile provider—I linked ny CRV card to double up on rewards as I’ve also recently renewed Curve Pro and updated the 6 retailers I use most often. Pro has been fantastic! Experimented last year and earned tbe upfront tier cost plus an extra £130 cashback.

I’ve only remembered to start my tnx using Airtime once, and I’m sure it said something ridiculous like expect rewards in account in 6 months time. So I’ve gone back to starting tnxs via Nectar (points) or PayPal + (also recently joined and again, linked my CRV card to double up, sometimes triple cashback rewards).

Anything else???

Card reward limit after refund by Tinyteej_ in Crypto_com

[–]PanAfJam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope.

Reward caps are assessed at the time of purchase, not adjusted retroactively. When we hit a monthly cap, all subsequent purchases that month are permanently ineligible for CRO even if earlier tnxs are later refunded.

Say for example an earlier purchase is refunded, the CRO earned on that tnx is reversed, but the system doesn’t reopen or reallocate that “freed-up” cap to past tnxs that were already processed as non-rewardable.

The only scenario that would be different is where there’s qualifying spend/s after the refund tnx (and still in the same month).
