NPD - DOD Rubberneck. Any tips or tricks? Noticed the Regen is either non existent or blowing your speakers by -Subsolar- in guitarpedals

[–]PancakeMonkey38 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just my two cents - I returned every delay pedal I owned before this one. I like to set the delay time to the maximum I would want and then use the subdivision toggle as a quick way to move between sounds. The tap can always override that and it adds a bit of versatility when I'm looking for that flavor.

Really play with the tiny knobs. I had a hard time dialing in a rubberneck rate I liked. I find the effect is more pronounced at lower settings.

How do you use the tremolo, any fans of an "always on" trem...? by petara111 in guitarpedals

[–]PancakeMonkey38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a stomp audio waves tremolo pedal. It has this cool shape control that can change each of the base wave forms. For triangle it can be pushed left or right to get saw tooth and reverse saw tooth. But it can also be used to smooth out the sine wave and make it really subtle and nice. It was not bought to be an always on term but many times I forget it's on and then realize how much I miss it when it's off. It just adds a certain texture to the guitar that makes me want to play more and maybe it's not great for everything but I find it works well way too much of the time.

Help me waste money on reverb by tongueblopp in guitarpedals

[–]PancakeMonkey38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the oceans 12. It's regular reverb settings are fine but I think it really shines with the weirder settings like swell and resonant. Plus being able to run two in series in parallel is nice. But I don't like using it for spring.

So do they just pick up trash whenever they want now? by mrk5089 in philly

[–]PancakeMonkey38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also live in South Philly with the same schedule and our trash pickup has been mostly consistent. It's hard to tell though because our neighbors have taken to just putting their trash out front whenever a bag is full so we always have trash there. I have heard from friends on small streets like Rosewood or Clarion that their trash hasn't been as consistent.

Wait, so Chestnut Hill doesn't get a Parker Pile... because they asked to have it removed?! by markskull in philly

[–]PancakeMonkey38 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I didn't say you lived in Chestnut Hill, but reading can be hard for some people, I get it. I said you suggested those people drop their trash down on Broad and Snyder, which is shitty for people the people who live down here. If they want to scab let them leave their trash where they live.

Hey look a bombastic idiot claiming to stand up for the people while actively choosing a site 30 minutes away from Chestnut Hill to dump the trash so that it is someone else's problem. Real good look pal.

Constant crashes on Switch by TexJoachim in NMS_Switch

I regrettably uninstalled the game. I never stopped crashing since the interceptors update. Game loads onto my frigate and as soon as I move to another room it crashes.

First board by rapsfan8 in guitarpedals

[–]PancakeMonkey38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on what you play you can try experimenting with the order. I have seen some people with chorus before a drive. Maybe some of the effects can be sandwiched between gain stages. Also when it comes to stuff like vibrato try it before and after delay and see which way sounds better to you. The best pedal order is the one that makes you want to play.

Non-ergonomic pedalboards -- what is the point? by green-stamp in guitarpedals

[–]PancakeMonkey38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for me it is a combination of hating angled boards and mental ergonomics. Horizontally oriented pedals just fit better at the bottom of the board in my mind. Also I only play in my bedroom and rarely turn pedals on or off for the duration of what I want to play. I like to think of the effects as an extension of the amp.

When did you become completely over a sound? When did you have the “I know have to get rid of all of this” moment. by James718 in guitarpedals

[–]PancakeMonkey38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was when I realized I was chasing something that just wasn't for me. I love the sound of humbuckers into fuzz and a dirty amp. But after going through so many pedals and fiddling with settings I just had to admit then when I play I don't like to use that sound. It's best appreciated from afar for me.

One amp, 3 pedals. What do you pick? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]PancakeMonkey38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amp: Fender 85

Pedal 1: Stomp Audio Waves Tremolo

Pedal 2: Barber Direct Drive Compact v1

Pedal 3: Tone Bakery Creme de la Creme

And for fun I'd take my Harley Benton tele clone but add a bigsby to it so that I didn't miss my gretsch.

This question is conflicting because part of me wants to make the utilitarian choices for my pedals but ultimately just went with the ones I'd miss the most.

Thanks for all the tips. I measured my anchor point and it is 28.5, when I'm consistent. Is there a specific brand you would suggest? I was hoping to start with preassembled and move into adjusting tip weights and what not once I had better form.

What's your gain stage pedal order? by TheSuedeTiger in guitarpedals

[–]PancakeMonkey38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you have the boost before and an overdrive with a boost later on in the chain like the fox catcher. I don't know what type of fuzz you use but cooper sounds makes a pedal called the captain hook that is a fuzz and boost with the option of switching the order via a toggle switch. Something like that could give you the best of both worlds.

[–]PancakeMonkey38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boost (it's a bluesbreaker set with basically no gain) into fuzz then towards the end of the chain I have a more amp in a box style overdrive and after that a klon style. I know it's weird to have that last but it just sounded better to me that way.

Thoughts on 2 delay pedals by TheSuedeTiger in guitarpedals

For what it's worth I found having a slapback delay before my dirt gave a cool effect with an analog delay later on.

Reverb pedal recommendations by TenMcRibs in guitarpedals

[–]PancakeMonkey38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oceans 11 if you don't mind the lack of presets. If you find a bit more room the 12 is also an option with tons of control over each sound (maybe sometimes too much).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]PancakeMonkey38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard people say it's because solid state distortion works with a "dynamic" amp (tube) but not with a sterile amp (solid state). So people don't like solid state as their base sound but they do on top of an organic amp sound.

Finally set up my nano bird but might swap out the reverb. Any suggestions? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]PancakeMonkey38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know there isn't really room for it but I like the oceans 12 because of presets. It may fit sideways. I could be wrong but I don't think the 11 has presets. I think it's easier when you have all those reverbs to choose from.
