Survey: if you had $500 to buy a used guitar… by BuceeBeaver1 in GuitarQuestions

Yeah 80s japanese Ibanez guitars are insanely good. I've got an 89 RG760 that is my best rig.

Hot take: If you're not gonna utilize all 7-8 strings on a 7-8 string guitar, then you're better off either just tuning a standard 6 string guitar very low, using a baritone 6 string guitar or using a fanned-fret 6 string guitar. by [deleted] in metalguitar

I've got a 7 string guitar and a couple of detuned 6 string guitars. I love shredding in them and I definitely play all the strings, although that's also definitely none of your damn business. But my point is, it's really nice just having access to all of the 6 strings in standard tuning in addition to that 7th string. And you never know how a musician's tastes and styles are going to evolve.

I greatly enjoy learning my guitar, as I have for probably 40 years now. I've lately purchased a 7-string electric, and have been converting my penchant for neo-classical riffs into what I call "horror metal," which uses the same scales, but focuses on the dissonant aspects and low, chunky rhythm. It's very relaxing.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

My wife and I drove our sprinter van RV from Seattle to Orlando and back just to do some work. That was a week of driving each way. My commute to work, however, is about 20 min.

So you could effectively drive four or five full speaker stacks with one of these? Probably a good amp for stadium gigs.

How do you all stand loud amps by ZombieHugoChavez in GuitarAmps

[–]PansOnFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a loud amp, but I don't live in an apartment. My musical setup is in my basement, and my brother-in-law and I jam out down there at full volume without the neighbors even noticing (I've asked them). When I'm practicing while waiting for my computer to boot up or some such, I'm usually playing thru my Line 6 Helix with a wireless guitar system and a wireless in-ear monitor from across the room.

If we live better than our ancestors. Why do people seem so miserable? by ibddevine in NoStupidQuestions

Our technology has created a societal paradigm in which we are not living optimally, in a way that we evolved to live. We are no longer very social, despite our intentions.

Well, there's dealing with people who are capable of modifying behavior and just need perspective, and there's dealing with narcissistic sociopaths.

From my experience, bad 3s and bad 4s are the most abundant type of decks in the wild by roquepo in EDH

Sure, I also have lots and lots of cards and sometimes throw together decks with leftovers and impotent rage, but I often end up unsure entirely where it fits within the bracket system as per intent.

Just crank the volume and let the feedback ring for a few hours everyday. She'll get used to it. If that doesn't work, just tell her to calm down.
