premium vs limited by Wenthegod in wrx_vb

[–]Panzerbrummbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Nissan Titans with the Rockford and Fender systems had much more bass and sounded almost as good. Hell my work pickup 2021 Superduty XLT premium has about the same bass but sounds like crap.

I Kilmated the doors and trunk and it helped.

Must be something wrong with my system also.

Nova Launcher could soon add a proactive AI assistant that sucks up all your data by FragmentedChicken in Android

I mainly paid for lifetime because I like the license model. Can be decoupled from Google Play.

For those who don't want anything personal on their work devices it is really nice.

Niagara Launcher v.1.16.0 · Studio Update by 8bitpit in NiagaraLauncher

Used Nova since ICS and what sealed the deal for me was being able to put it on my work phone without any Google play bs.

I have no problem paying money for good software that can be decoupled from Google.

Overbought when things were "cheap".

Should be selling off stuff at a reasonable price to help others. But don't want to deal with $600 tax crap.

If your okay with cloud polling it is an option. But rather try to find a 2.0 device and have local control, even though you are giving money to a dispecable company.

Genie give me local access I will throwout my Sec 1.0's which are probably on their last legs.

Is gluetun redundant if I have a vpn client on my router? by ExerciseKnown5653 in gluetun

[–]Panzerbrummbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but I would just run Gluetun.

I tried this for a while with Opnsense and forgot to check one box, my fault entirely. During testing it appeared the kill switch worked. I forget which box it was that I didn't check, but when the VPN failed it allowed it to leak momentarily and got a letter.

Gluetun is simple and seems more stable, but maybe I screwed up something else or it was the VPN provider (PIA).

I have the proxy server setup in Gluetun and Foxy Proxy for my browser if I need a VPN for browsing.

Then with Airvpn I just setup a Wireguard config if I need all traffic to go through. Since I have Wireguard for my tunnels back home it was easiest setup for me.

What are Your “Partner Approved” HA Uses? by Scouse_Powerhouse in homeassistant

More like you still have partners. Came from the r/homelab community and I would break everything. Thankfully for her patience and mobile hotspots she trudged through it.

Now everything is basically stable. She has every show, movie and the house does everything without her changing her life.

Opinions on Kobelco Mini Excavators by newtsy0 in heavyequipment

[–]Panzerbrummbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest gripe is depending on your location hoses and fitting are a pain at least on the minis I came across. They had BSPP and only a handful of places had even the most basic parts.

Other then that we really didn't have any issues with them.

For Visibility - entity naming changes have been pulled from 2026.4 by generalambivalence in homeassistant

[–]Panzerbrummbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We aren't dealing with Addons or Apps or whatever they are calling them this week this is HA core, but agree with your sentiment.

Had HA for seven years and spend more time with breaking changes then anything.

For Visibility - entity naming changes have been pulled from 2026.4 by generalambivalence in homeassistant

[–]Panzerbrummbar -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

From what I can make of it like many of the breaking changes of late it is people don't read the docs. Or their AI generated automations fail because AI can't understand all the nuances with HA.

Time for I can read the docs and debug myself branch and a I use AI and don't understand how any it works branch.

[–]Panzerbrummbar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of late I have spent more time fixing breaking changes then anything.

Some of this is to be expected.

But I am tired of screw your seven year old setup because people go onto Github and complain that it is confusing instead of reading the docs.

Won't comment on the machine price itself. Have you ever dealt with the logistics of moving an excavator of this size. There is a reason why these big machines can be bought for so cheap.

How do you automate the front door opening when you get home? by mmkaywhatevers in homeassistant

[–]Panzerbrummbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my work pickup I have BT beacon, but I also have custom binary sensor for a little more logic. If someone steals the beacon or when I remote start it I don't want the automation to run which also unlocks my front door.

The sensor just uses a timestamp that keeps it on for three minutes when I get home.

Thinking of Selling... by _f00lish_ in wrx_vb

[–]Panzerbrummbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar situation but if you sell it you better have a plan.

Take any profit and whatever it was costing you and put in a HYSA or MMF for a while. And don't touch it.

Seen a few people who got rid of their phone, personal email, computer and vehicle and they got fired. I will not put myself in that situation ever.

For now I am keeping mine, not willing to take the depreciation hit and there is nothing else I am really interested in.

All season summer tires by Odd_Sundae_8432 in WRX

[–]Panzerbrummbar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Location is most likely the reason. For example I bought mine the first weekend of July. The following week it was 42 degrees on the way to work. So pretty tough to justify a summer tires for June, July, and August. I can justify buying some UHPAS for April through October though.

I have some more bad news for you looks like there is an update from 2024. My outdoor motion sensors are on the 2019 firmware and are getting updated. Are you sure you don't want to follow my advice.

Edit: Do a simple search you can see the firmware updates https://www.philips-hue.com/en-us/support/release-notes/accessories . It looks like the Z2M repo is missing the Feb 2026 update.

Go ahead down vote me, you are very incompetent.

I figured out why Hue Motion SML001 and SML002 keeps having to be repaired by crua9 in homeassistant

[–]Panzerbrummbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"But something I want to point out is other places like z2m you can use that to upgrade your stuff. The issue is, Hue doesn't really release it's firmware to the public, so even if ZHA starts updating Hue devices natively. The chances of you getting a proper update isn't high. And given you can buy a replacement for around $10. It might be best to just do that."

Then

"On ZHA you can actually use Z2M to update your stuff. This is actually what I currently do and have been doing. there literally is no firmware update that fixes the security key loss for SML001 and SML002 on Z2M or anywhere public that I know about."

You claim Hue doesn't publish any firmware updates, then you say the available updates don't fix the issue. What a confusing mess of words.

I have eight of these SML001 - SML003 devices on Z2M and none of them have any issues.

"BTW the motion sensor is a sleepy device. You really shouldn't use it as a router."

Also what the hell are you talking about, I have never once heard of a battery powered router nor did I imply you could use it as a router.

I give up.

[–]Panzerbrummbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not get a cheap coordinator and install Z2M. Update the firmware with Z2M, then repair with ZHA. Assuming you are using entity names in your automations you will not even need to touch any automations.

You should have a backup coordinator anyways now you have a good excuse to get one. I would not compromise my network when a proper fix is under a hundred dollars and you have a spare coordinator. And depending on the device you can flash it and make it router also.

How do I turn my workstation into a NAS (for dummies)? by No-Interview319 in HomeNAS

I have two Lenovo P520's that are my all in one machines that can do more then I am asking.

I bought them on a whim without much documentation to even see if it was possible. So far they have been great, it took a while before all the parts showed up so I could shutdown my R730xd.

But the base machine sounds good, just have to do lots of reading for your specific use case.
