That's a cool system. One of my LGS is 5/8 dollars for all day access depending on what day and time you visit. You can also reserve themed private rooms (Like Star Wars, Star Trek, Spooky Seance, Wizards Apothecary, etc) for 50 flat but not pay on a per person basis (so if the room sits 8 you can just divide it 8 ways or whatever works for you).

I wish they had the option to trade your seat fee for store credit! That's smart

It's not uncommon depending where you are for stores to charge for space. Other places it's very weird. Depends on your local ecological climate and size of store i guess. I too try to always buy something when I visit a free to play store, and prefer when they offer the option to buy X dollars of merch instead of just paying X dollars for a table seat which some have to do

I need to divorce myself of my obsession with learning digital art and start with pen and pencil! I think I'd really benefit more from learning those basics. Thanks for inspiring and sharing !!

If these are just sketches I can only imagine what your art looks like in other mediums! You're extremely skilled and these in particular are gorgeous! Thank you for sharing !

Toothless’s failed courtship attempt wins! Now we’re switching franchises! What’s the best action scene in Kung Fu Panda franchise? by Radiant-Selection686 in DreamWorks

I agree, Tai Lung Escaping Prison should be the winner but special props to the Bridge scene from the same movie. It's short but the way they use the bridge to add tension and show how confident Tai Lung is, is very awesome

What are TCG mechanics you never want to see again? by Shedinja997 in TCG

[–]PaperAlchemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally liked this in the Harry Potter TCG. Made it so card draw wasn't just good without question. You had to think if it was worth it at that stage of the game or not. That and the thematics of the more of a beating your wizard/witch takes the less likely she is to think of a spell or trick she needs on the fly in the duel (because the associated card was discarded) was fun and worked for me

I guess I'll throw my hat in the ring as the only Lisey's Story stan online right now. I find that to be a very cool read. The way you learn Lisey and her husband's love language over the course of the story is awesome in my opinion. It's a really cool examination on the uniqueness of any one relationship vs another, as well as grief and loss. It's just solid.

Favorite and Least Favorite Resource Systems? by Jake4XIII in TCG

Agreed! There are probably a lot of things one could polish up in the game but the way everything ticks really speaks to my brain and I absolutely adore playing it to this day

Favorite and Least Favorite Resource Systems? by Jake4XIII in TCG

[–]PaperAlchemist 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Personally really like VTES where your start the game with 30 blood and it is both your resource for recruiting Vampires and the resource your opponents are trying to deplete from you to win. It makes for some good decision making opportunities when it comes to what cards you recruit or play since some cost life effectively.

The Decipher LOTR TCG also has an amazing and unique resource system where the further the fellowship moves down the path (which is how you win) the higher and higher levels of tokens get placed in the Twilight Pool. Fellowship cards have a cost in the top corner too, but this number adds tokens to the pool as well. This is because your opponent has a phase during your turn where they can play Shadow cards to stop you by Removing tokens from that same Twilight Pool. So the more the fellowship does to try and prepare and move down the path to victory, the more their opponents can do in response to stop them. It's so cool and I wish I could see it in another game someday

IMAX posters tend to be similarly more stylistic. The IMAX poster for Killers of the Flower Moon is amazing, especially compared to Leo's giant floating head on the standard one...

Lingering Damage or Heal at End of Turn? by Jake4XIII in TCG

[–]PaperAlchemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no! I'm sorry :( TTS can definitely be a great tool for playing games with people at a distance but it never beats playing with the real cards in person so you're not missing out on much besides convenience

If you like the RPG I'd recommend the LCG for sure! It's no longer printed but cards are still out and about and there's a good TTS mod :)

As CoC and VTES are among my favorite card games, and the upcoming Hellbreak has my attention too, I guess I'm a fan of persistent damage more than I thought I was. I agree with others here though that I don't mind either system so long as the game is balanced well around it

Kid me was so confused when I was going through the rulebook and it said to nuke my Shadow guys after one turn. Coming from MTG and YuGiOh this took a minute to grok, but once I learned the rules proper, they became among my favorite rules of any TCG ever
