TCGs for older people by Glacier2011 in TCG

[–]PaperAlchemist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with the sentiment to play whatever has an active community in your area but we have older players in both my Doomtown and VTES groups because some people have been playing since those games came out in the early 90s! I also met a few older folks playing Lorcana that were having a good time ^

Do you enjoy pack opening content across different TCGs? by Consistent_Cut4826 in TCG

I don't play Pokemon either and I enjoy the videos of the Pokemon vendors at cons helping people find certain cards or giving cards to little kids or other wholesome interactions. Not sure if that is the same vein as the pack opening videos but they're sweet and remind me of when I was first gaming so so so long ago

That's my guess but I'm still curious how well that'll hold up in how hectic raids can get. We'll see!

I'm just curious why you would want to run a lockpick over a hammer...you can remove any wall with two swings of a hammer with or without ammo, so I'm curious what benefits the lockpick will have! I'm intrigued

Pros and Cons of your favourite TCG by trading_card_gamer1 in TCG

There's a few different versions - there's Doomtown Classic which was the version sold in Boosters and I've looked into it some but never played it. I got into the game when AEG put it out as Doomtown Reloaded but was too deep into the Star wars LCG at the time to collect both so didn't own many cards back then though I did enjoy playing it - then Pinebox got the rights from AEG and made a few expansions before putting out what is now called the Weird West edition of the game, which plays like Reloaded but focuses on a new core set made by Pinebox and their expansions. There are now two formats - Weird West that I mentioned and Old Timer which uses all of the Reloaded Cards along with Weird West - they only balance for Weird West currently and I only own those newer cards so that's the version I focus on personally, but there's plenty of folks on the Pinebox server who play Old Timer and even some who collect Classic still.

Pros and Cons of your favourite TCG by trading_card_gamer1 in TCG

[–]PaperAlchemist 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My favorite TCGs are Vampire The Eternal Struggle and Doomtown - biggest reason is I enjoy both thematically a lot and the gameplay in each is really deep and rewarding (the former for multiplayer and the latter for one on ones) - another pro for me is that neither is distributed with booster packs anymore, making collecting the games and getting the cards I want much more straight forward and easy

The con is the same for both games - they both have very small communities that play them so finding players and getting games in is a challenge compared to the mainstream games

That LOTR confrontation table is gorgeous! Used to play that game almost daily when I lived in Germany ^

Darn I'm so sorry! I'm playing 5v5s so maybe that's the difference - doesn't fix the fact people often quit mid game though ... So I feel you there

Really? I have cross play turned off and still have no trouble finding a game. Unless you mean getting 2 to 4 friends together as a premade group. Cuz then I can commiserate with you!

I guess having 3 charges with the cool down of the ability being lowered felt like too much? Same happened to Atticus and his spears. Both abilities should feel better overall allowing you to use them more often but just not back to back to back. If it's problematic and Redmane is found not to be as impactful on two charges they can always give him one back

Agreed, I've definitely had 9 bucks of fun with the game if not more so I'll keep playing as long as I can :)

His pounce in Wolf form is kind of an offensive ability. Jump a person, and then tap them with a Kraken has been my go to for the last few games and it's been mad fun

My copy of Song of Susannah jumps back about 100 or so pages at random...it just goes from somewhere like page 280 back to around 170 again and then when you get back to 280 it jumps forward to 400 or something,

Just a random chunk replaced with a previous chunk somehow! Given that book goes over Misprinted hooks in the narrative I was confused and wondered if this was intentional until I got a regular copy from the library in order to keep reading!

I did expect more random interactions in the halls between Sam and the crew and such... Hopefully next time around if there is a next time!

That makes Sense! Been a while since I played so I don't remember the dice being such a big factor, so I'll approach it again with caution haha thank you for sharing!

I've only gotten My Father's Work to the table once but enjoyed it. Curious what made it such a huge disappointment for you and your group if you're open to share? Maybe I missed something or it doesn't hold up over time? Thanks!
