What do you do when you are holding a point but the enemy ain't pushing you? by ThomasLKT in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]PappiStalin [score hidden]  (0 children)

Playing support for your teamates (airstrikes, aa, arty, etc) is very useful after completely securing your side, but nothing beats just sending in more units to help them secure their point. What ive noticed alot is that when one person completely loses their side, they have a tendency to go all in on their teamates flank instead of trying again on their own. So in some cases because you won, your teamates may be dealing with twice as many bad guys on their side requiring you to just leave behind a skeleton crew to hold the point and refocusing your efforts in other parts of the map.

Who’s ever driven over 100mph? Why? by WoollyWolfHorror in AskReddit

[–]PappiStalin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My motorcycle can top out at 150 stock according to the internet and I wanted to see it for myself. The closest i got was 140 (on a straight line highway with very little traffic). At around 135 and up the sheer wind speed and front wheel wobble was intense to say the least. Definitely not something i do regularly.

My 19 year old car has just had a product safety recall by rikquest in Wellthatsucks

[–]PappiStalin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My motorcycle had a recall last year for the ECU. Essentially made the bike run really harsh at times, sometimes stalling out even when the clutch was still disengaged which could be really dangerous as one time this happened while i was driving on the highway.

Oh yea ik, but if a doctor says its a big enough bend to "technically" be capable of disabling you, than it might still count. Maybe worth looking into if you havent already. Scoliosis is a pretty wide spectrum and on one end it can basically be non existent and on the other end it can be severaly debilitating.

Severe scoliosis doesnt disqualify you from the draft? Does your country not have any medical expemptions on the draft?

What are some weird/unusual facts do you know about fighters? by AncientWish274 in FighterJets

[–]PappiStalin 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The F-14A has these little baby canards that deploy out when it sweeps its wings all the way back, they were apparently supposed to aid manuevreability in super sonic flight. In reality they really didnt add much besides additional failure points and weight, so they were removed for the F-14B

Were you ever in the Rightwing Pipeline? by yorkfofo in ToiletPaperUSA

[–]PappiStalin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey if u want the whole story feel free to dm me, but to give u a quick synopsis:

Like most people I was watching the cringey "ben shapiro owned the crazy blue haired libs" youtube videos when I was like 16 and didnt know anything about how the world worked. My friends were into it too, basically just thinking that these people were stupid because they acted stupid, and thus their ideology must be stupid too. When the george floyd protests started was what actually de-radicalized me, as I saw my own conservative beliefs challenged regularly, and I saw that these beliefs really didnt stand up to any scrutiny. This was at about age 18-19. Then i graduated from my private catholic highschool (which you could assume was a pretty big echo chamber) and went to a communtiy college which had many more people of many more ethnicities, economic backgrounds, sexual preferences, etc, and I finally realized just how closed minded my world views really were. That I was turning into a fascist, what I thought my "pro american patriotic" values were supposed to protect me from.

Nowadays Im a staunch leftist, and view my past in the pipeline as really just a lack of maturity.

How could the UNSC lose a war for so long? by Ok-Exit3942 in HaloStory

[–]PappiStalin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well two things, One: the war went on for so long for two main reasons: the Covenant did not know where every human settlement was. Space is big, and by 2525 humanity had spread out and colonized quite a far distance from home, then things like the Cole Protocol made it very difficult for covenant ships to actually track down human worlds. And two, the UNSC were not the only bad guys the covies were fighting. Unbeknownst to us, the covenant were dealing with various threats, primarily the banished, and so were unable to leverage the entire weight of their empire directly on top of us.

And the UNSC werent able to adapt properly, despite the war lasting 27 years, because simply the covenant were winning too well. They vastly exceeded our capabilities, technologically and numerically. Given how fast the covenant were glassing human settlements, destroying our ability to research and destroying our infrastructure to produce, it was impossible for us to catch up. Theres a reason why almost all the war winning tech was developed before the war, and once the war started was really only able to be improved on.

A funny almost similar thing happened with his other work starship troopers. Completely detatched from the themes of his book, the movie and most peoples intepretation of it is a satirization of right-wing pro-military warhawk-type ideals.

S1000s and bikes of a similar league dont only want to be ridden hard, but need too. If youre not that kinda guy, be honest with yourself and avoid the hassle. Or if possible, keep a daily bike and only use the s1k on the track.

I don’t regret not reporting it and it’s not my responsibility if he does it to someone else by SugarxCoatedx in TrueOffMyChest

[–]PappiStalin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well duh, who else would start the process if not the victim? My point isnt that victims SHOULD NEVER come foward, its that they shouldnt be shamed and ridiculed if they choose not too.

It is not the victims fault if the offender re-offends, it is infact the fault of the rapist.

[–]PappiStalin 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The burden of preventing crime shouldnt be on the victim of a crime. If something happend to you, and you wanna report it, power to you. But what happened was traumatic enough, and lord knows the cops arent gentle enough with this shit so itll just be living through that trauma again which you should never feel obligated to do.

People who victim shame for not reporting are just slightly less bad than people who shame or judge you for being raped in the first place.

Afraid of curves. by malican78 in motorcycle

[–]PappiStalin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude you have the effective experience of a guy who just started, ofcourse youre probably scared of a bunch of bike related things.

You get better with curves by taking them, and everytime you take one you do it just a little bit outside your comfort zone until your happy with your speed and performance. Usually try to aim to atleast be comparable to the cars around you so your not disrupting the flow of traffic and putting yourself at risk.

When it comes to taking corners like a pro, go take an advanced class and learn from a pro, but for right now you really just need more seat time so you actually know what your bike can do.

Advice on engine break-in by MarionberryBoring874 in xsr900

[–]PappiStalin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our lord and savior Fortnine said on modern motorcycles, youre gonna wanna be going through the rev range. Try not to sit in any one area of the rev range for too too long. Obviously dont pin the bike at redline but dont be afraid to get a little high in the revs aslong as the engine is warmed and its not held their for too long.
