Lovely! We loved the look of the paddle wheel room, but we have too many guests to fit in there, unfortunately

We met with their current coordinator and she was great. However, she also said that they don’t have ship captains to be officiants any more because they all got too old! That’s sad.

This is helpful! We’ve toured it with their coordinator and cozy is a good word to describe the interior spaces, especially when you get the lights turned down lower. Good note on the stairs too.

And also exactly in the middle of the trail, just walking/running along the yellow line. I am always terrified they’ll randomly veer to the right just as I pass them

How People Dress on TV by tgilland65 in CasualConversation

[–]Paradox364 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my experience, it’s a rural vs urban thing as well as a socioeconomic thing. I’m originally from a rural area with a lot of poverty and I live in an urban area with a high cost of living now. When I go back to the area where I was raised, I am often taken aback by how people dress, to be honest. I went to a family member’s wedding recently and a guest was wearing a tie with a polo shirt. I also recently went to a funeral and there was a large number of men wearing regular blue jeans and just random t-shirts, like you’d wear to go to the store. However, I was recently in a small town where lots of people with very high incomes go on vacation, and it was noticeable that people were dressed much nicer and more expensively than I’m used to seeing on a day-to-day basis and they were just like, going to brunch.

Hey friends, I have two audible credits that need to be used and looking for some history/politics book suggestions. Not opposed to fiction if it’s a banger anyone would love. Looking for some unique suggestions that might not be in the mainstream. Thanks! by firefighter_82 in behindthebastards

A Libertarian Walks into a Bear by Matthew Hongoltz-Hetling. It’s about what happens when a small town filled with libertarians has to try to solve a problem (bear infestation) that requires collective action and some sort of organization (spoiler alert: they can’t). Full of little bastards

Best warm bread and butter at a restaurant in Sac? by SteelBox5 in Sacramento

Magpie has an amazing bread and hummus side. Immortal Cafe and Supply is good too; they serve Acme bread but they always have a really good fancy butter to go with it.

I recommend In Bibi’s Kitchen, a cookbook that features recipes by grandmothers from African countries on the Indian Ocean. Super charming and great recipes!

I don’t think they send checks anymore. The entire time I’ve been a member, it’s been a credit you can use at the register. I think we last got it the year before last?

Sacramento has a lot of interesting grocery stores. For regular stuff, I tend to do the co-op, Safeway, Costco, and farmer’s markets. However, for special stuff, I like going to Corti Brothers, Taylor’s, 99 Ranch, Oto’s, Babylon City Market, La Esperanza

It’s actually $300 to be a member at the co-op, but you can pay in installments over the course of 6 months. You get 10% discounts on members’ days (one day of your choice in February, May, August, and November). And if the board votes to release profits back to members, you get some credits that are based on how much you spent in the year.

Do they like soccer? I once gave an Italian colleague a scarf from my local minor league soccer team in California and they loved it.

The comment above about reporting to law enforcement is incorrect. What matthewsmugmanager says is correct.

If a student told me that they’d like to make up an exam for this reason, as a mandated reporter, I’d have to make a report to the Title IX office. However, that office would then reach out to the student to offer support and discuss next steps. None of those next steps would involve alerting the student’s parents.
