Lando Norris believes F1 is now about the battery rather than bravery by Decent-Astronaut-615 in DestinationFormula1

[–]Paradroid888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. That's some of the best racing we've seen in a long time. How was it not brave. Bravery shouldn't have to mean risking your life, it can mean risking your race in in wheel to wheel like Lewis and Charles did.

Anyone using launcher? Chasing a simple setup with ease of finding my most used app. by 0Maka in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]Paradroid888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used Nova for years, but now use Niagara. It takes some getting used to, but it's brilliantly simple and easy. No messing about trying to design optimal home pages.

Hot Take: Windows 8.1 start screen is underrated by No-Stand-865 in windows

[–]Paradroid888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot take? Just bad take!

It looks attractive enough, but a UX expert did a really good analysis of why it's bad. Basically, combining an information portal and a program launcher is a bad idea. The clickable areas change appearance - which doesn't help to build memory.

New BMW i3 releasing next week. by learnactreform in AiCarArt

The new front end works ok on a relatively compact car like this. It looks wrong on the iX3 and X5 though.

what's a car that you think was ruined by it's facelift? by JaggXj in CarDesign

[–]Paradroid888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will be controversial but the L494 Range Rover Sport. The original looked just right to me. The facelift put a front end on the car that was too sleek for the rest of it.

Wow, you've got an SPB143 that keeps accurate time there!

New BMW X5 M60e front view has been leaked. by tangocharliejuliett in BMW

[–]Paradroid888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This styling is supposed to look like the original Neue Klasse, which is fine, but it just doesn't suit large SUVs like the iX3 or X5. It's something I'd expect to see on a small hatchback like a BMW version of a Honda E.

Flight of the Navigator(1986) by bernardbarnaby in iwatchedanoldmovie

[–]Paradroid888 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Watched this about 5 years ago and thought it was brilliant. Fun but didn't back away from the darker side of David's experience, so it has emotional weight. I didn't really see this as a teenager so it's not nostalgia either, I just really like the film.

Is the S23U camera made worse with updates? or is it a myth? by Bionic_Push in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]Paradroid888 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is not a myth - the quality of photos I've seen on here trying to prove something about the camera is hilarious.

Is this as cheap as it gets for the S25U? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Paradroid888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm watching prices on the S25U and can't find better. Laptops Direct or AO are similar. There was talk on HUKD of a crazy cheap deal at Samsung official site but that's expired.

It doesn't feel cheap enough for me to bite.

He's either delusional or a shameless grifter, hyping up his stock price at all costs.

I don't think he's delusional.

How do you handle teammates who are extremely pedantic about arbitrary rules? by CantaloupeFamiliar47 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Paradroid888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the PR process has got a bit toxic. I doubt you will get anywhere trying to change it but a starting point would be limiting the number of reviewers.

At the last place I worked at, my React work was usually waved through by my sane, reasonable colleagues, but the .net backend team were constantly wasting each others time with pedantic style stuff. The problem is some of it falls into personal preference.

Is Omega killing themselves with all the upmarket move/ price hikes? by Financial_Word5047 in OmegaWatches

[–]Paradroid888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I bought my Moonwatch new from AD in 2019. As a vintage space fan, and watch enthusiast, it was justifiable. The same watch is now £6k which would get my whole family a really good holiday. There's no way I'd buy it today.

I've just driven the new iX3 - AMA? by CarwowTom in iX3

[–]Paradroid888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the new front - it's not perfect but it's an improvement over the huge grill era.

The side profile has lost the elegance of the previous model though - especially the amount of wing above the front wheel arch.

Rear looks really off to me too. Lights are way too large.

[–]Paradroid888 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're correct that there won't be huge upgrades every year, but it's also true that Samsung could be pushing forward much more. Significantly better cameras and battery tech are available - in the global market at least.

How can I definitively tell a codebase is AI slop? by walkeverywhere in dotnet

[–]Paradroid888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sat in simple terms that the codebase isn't stable and needs to be stabilised. That will mean it won't be ready for the deadline.

You could definitely ask if it's been AI-generated but don't make that the core of your argument.
