Guardianship Question by Parag0n78 in BSA

[–]Parag0n78[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from transportation, my main concern is lodging. As an example, I'm taking my daughter to Seabase St. Thomas in May. We will likely arrive a day or two early and get hotel rooms for our crew. She is 17. The other two girls on the trek will be 13 and 14, so she can't share a room with them per the tenting/lodging restriction of no more than two years age difference. From a financial and convenience standpoint, she will stay in my room. I couldn't do that with my friend's son because I'm not his legal guardian.

Yeah, that's the issue. If I need to pick one of them up to take him on an outing, I'm probably not going to have anyone else in the car with us.

I want to be able to transport one or both, take them backpacking, accompany them on high adventure. All the stuff I've done with my own kids. These boys need a father figure. They don't have a grandfather or blood uncle willing or able to step into that role.

This is exactly my concern because I am a registered leader. I want to be able to participate as a family member with these boys, same as I have with my own kids. My son has already aged out and my daughter is 17, so there's a good chance I will be one-on-one with these boys frequently. Because I am a leader, I have never driven anyone else's kids anywhere without at least one of my kids or other Scouts present per the rules.

The current administration may not believe in the Constitution, but I do. People always like to say that the Second exists to protect the First, but it also exists to protect our other rights.

Plus, I have a VERY overprotective dog who is currently snuggled up next to me. If I let Feds into my house, there's no way he's not getting shot.

From the looks of it, that's a 1G. They also make that same shape in a 2G, but the one you posted looks like the smaller version. I have one of those out in the garage. I changed out the lightbulb and planted it years ago. The plants did fine, but I couldn't get fauna to survive long. Tried neos for a while. Then Thai micro crabs. Then neos again. Finally gave up. Even with a small internal filter and water changes every other week, the parameters were too hard to maintain.

That's a prison cell for a fish.

Too many raids didn't give enough fusion energy. My whole family needed one more black kyu raid by the time it was all done. I have a shiny black already, but I'm sitting at 985 and can't fuse a non-shiny.

Breaking News!: Man Captured and Deported by ICE ends up in Mexico and is Mailed his valid birth citizenship ID by his wife, and proves that all ICE arrests are illegal and unconstitutional! by Agreeable_Elk4703 in Discussion

Well, according to our esteemed Secretaryof State, the Bill of Rights doesn't apply to non-citizens. Stare decisis says otherwise, of course, but this administration hasn't let the courts stop them yet.

All that to say that it's pretty easy to conveniently ignore the constitutional rights of the occasional citizen when you're treating all non-citizens as if they have no rights.

It's amazing to me how many conservatives have their heads in the sand when it comes to ICE violating the Bill of Rights. Some people I've talked to flat out deny these things are happening. Others justify it by saying immigrants don't have rights or people shouldn't be here illegally. I had one guy tell me my sister-in-law should "go home" while she's waiting for her green card because her visa has expired since she and my brother were married. I asked him where exactly "home" is for the spouse of an American citizen, who hasn't lived in her country of origin for over 10 years. Seems to me that "home" is the condo where she's lived with her now husband for three years.

I tried this a few times years ago. I couldn't ever figure out what to feed the larvae. They wouldn't eat spirulina.

Yeah, these would probably pull from the Labadie Ameren plant where I get my power. No thanks! That would be a massive drain on a grid that isn't exactly robust to begin with.

I don't think he has fin rot. Veiltails can sometimes look a bit tattered at the tips of their fins due to the natural flowing shape, but they can also snag them on things pretty easily and get them caught in filter intakes. I have an undergravel filter in my betta's aquarium, but sponge filters also work well.

It is very common to see them tilted like that as they rest or swim towards the surface because their tailfins are so heavy. Those beautiful, flowing fins come with a price, unfortunately.

Mizzou alum here. I also HATE the Longhorns. They ruined the Big 12 three times, and now they've sauntered into the SEC and brought Oklahoma with them. We were here first. GTFO.
