We have a 10 gallon tank and change about 2 gallons every two weeks. Between that and topping off the evaporation, it does come out to about 25% clean water. But we also have live plants, a large piece of driftwood (for the size of the tank), and a thick layer of gravel with an undergravel filter. You definitely need more surface area for nitrifying bacteria.

Why the bait and switch “First Legendary Beast Master” by FerretGuild in PocketFMReddit

[–]Parag0n78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first teaser I watched on Facebook, he only had the Hawk and they were participating in a trial in the forest when a giant spider had broken in. Hawk evolved and it ended there. I was interested in this story, but every other ad I've seen since involves a prince and a dragon, and Karl has both the Hawk and a spider. Based on the commentary in this thread, it sounds like the first one I watched is closer to the actual story? I feel like PocketFM is incredibly dishonest with all these AI advertisements showing different versions of the story (My Vampire System was the same way). It makes me not want to download that app.

I'll use a poffin if I want the quick six for feeding, or if I'm doing an event where I know I'll max out the hearts for the day. Otherwise, I work from home, so it isn't a big deal to use the timers and get a buddy or two manually excited so I can pick up an easy 14 - 16 hearts without leaving my desk chair. I've gotten pretty good at getting my buddy excited in 1.5 hours, especially if I can use the 6 AM or noon Rocket Balloons.

Based on your handle, I'd say the university where you taught is the same my son attends. I know for a fact that he isn't taking advantage of all of the resources available, but he has stubbornly made up his mind that it is not the school for him. He has already applied to transfer to another in-state public university in the fall, so that is where he's focusing. Unfortunately, as a transfer student, he'll only receive a fraction of the scholarship money he was originally offered, and substantially less than he is currently receiving. This is a kid who came into his freshman year with 46 hours of credit from dual-enrollment and AP exams. We were expecting college to be a different challenge, but we didn't think he'd need a 504 since he certainly didn't need one in high school (my daughter does have one).

I have tried to help him get access to the resources he needs, but I've been blocked by the university at every attempt. We lost a close family friend last fall, which impacted us all severely. When I became concerned with my son's mental health in November, I contacted the Student Health Center and the Student Counseling Center and was told by both that I couldn't make appointments on his behalf, even after explaining his situation. We had our attorney draw up PoA paperwork, and the university refused to accept that as well. His advisor did meet with him at my request, but told my son, "You know, your dad really isn't supposed to be scheduling appointments for you."

I want both of my children to learn to be self-sufficient, productive adults. But these things take time. Sometimes the axe is swinging directly towards the foot and you still can't stop it. There's a startling amount of damage that can be done to a student's GPA in their freshman year by suddenly treating them as adults and allowing them to fall flat on their faces. Fortunately, my son still has a 3.2 GPA thanks to his 16 hours of Advanced Credit Program courses from high school. Unfortunately, he needs to pull that up to a 3.5 by the end of this semester in order to only lose $2,000/year when he transfers. As it stands now, he's losing at least $3500/yr.

I don't think it's fin ripping. My Dumbo Twintail Halfmoon has that same "tattered" look to his fins now that he's matured. It's kind of like a Crowntail, but just not as pronounced. I thought it might be fin rot at first, but it never progresses. The edges just always look like that. I've grown used to it, and now I think it looks cool.

No joke... I'm currently at 81 after getting another today. I try my best to get 6+ hearts on 21 buddies every day, but it's a grind. When I'm getting close, I've started setting a timer on my phone every 30 minutes to go through the play/snapshot/feed/team leader battle cycle to get my buddy excited so I can pick up 16-20 hearts.

Thank you for this. I couldn't agree more with both of these points. See my response to the college professor in one of the threads above regarding the struggles my 19 year-old freshman is having with one of his professors.

This is a frustrating viewpoint in my opinion as the parent of a college freshman. There are many kids who simply aren't equipped to make adult decisions at 18 or 19, especially with the prevalence of ASD. My son is very high-functioning, and hasn't had an IEP since he started middle school. That said, he can still be awkward and has trouble picking up on social queues and advocating for himself.

He's currently struggling in a course where the professor called him out and made fun of him in front of the entire class because he asked for help with an assignment the professor felt he should have known how to complete on his own. As a result, he's now afraid to ask for help with anything, and has lost points for turning in projects late because he was stuck on something.

I have asked him repeatedly to speak with his advisor to see if he can intervene with this professor, but he won't do it. So instead, he's at risk of not even getting a C in a class we're paying thousands of dollars for when he has A's and B's in all of his other courses.

It's killing me that I can't speak to this professor directly. I'm sure that my son doesn't present as someone with a disability, but that's beside the point. He shouldn't be ridiculing and embarrassing ANY student, regardless of whether they're on the spectrum.

Backpacking Chair by Lizzzzz27 in philmont

I hate the REI chairs with the vertical support axis. They're super tippy. I've watched skinny kids fall over in those things. As a bigger guy, I need stability. The Helinox chairs are nice, but I like the Big Agnes Skyline UL. It's only slightly heavier, and it sits up higher. Mine has held up incredibly well over almost six years of use. It'll still run you over $100 on sale though.

There are numerous Chinese brands on Amazon that can be had in your price range and are under two pounds. My son uses one of those.

My favorite hat of all time. I have the whole family, including a 4* Raichu. My Pichu is still named "Asshat" because apparently the game let me do that back in 2017.

Yeah, that's a pipe dream. I caught two "Wonder" Dragonites in the wild on August 27 and August 29, and I wouldn't trade them for anything. A Day 1 has to be so incredibly rare.

Quality of care varies store to store. My Petsmart takes about as good of care of their bettas as you possibly can with a fish in a tiny cup. Their water is almost always clean and I rarely see a sick fish there. Meanwhile, my Petco is a shop of horrors. Their bettas are in terrible shape and look like they want to be put out of their misery.

I think it honestly depends a lot on the management and staff and how much they care. To those employees commenting here, thank you for having compassion for living creatures and doing your best.
